NEW: The Ford government has broken its own record for ad spending. Internal documents show its advertising bill climbed to more than $117 million last year, according to internal documents — the highest total in a single year in Ontario’s history. A breakdown of how the money was spent in this story by me and @CharliePinkerto: thetrillium.ca/news/governme…

Teacher trolls say that we “indoctrinate children”. I’d rather “indoctrinate” adults into caring about properly funded and well-supported public education. 🤷🏾‍♂️ #OntEd

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) is warning the federal government that workers will not stand by while Ottawa doubles down on a mechanism that allows the government to shut down legal strikes & weakening workers’ power at the bargaining table. Sure, Paul. Our school doesn't have an SLP or CYW. The DECE has had to act as an EA. An EA is being pulled away from one room to work in another. Leaving staff to fill in the gaps. Tell me how that is supporting students. #onted
Putting student achievement first with stronger supports, clearer expectations and continued investment in classrooms and schools across in Ontario.

It never gets easier to tell an #OntEd parent that their child will not be receiving any EA support. Families worry about their children’s safety and learning needs. They struggle to understand why their child’s needs are not being prioritized. youtu.be/2yFBsHE2wAY?si=2DVh…

Our taxpayer dollars are being spent at an American company (in the middle of a trade war) that offers better deals to folks walking in off the street than to teachers ordering through the Ontario Ministry of Education portal. Make it make sense!!! #OntEd

You don't have to be a detective to follow the money and see the kickbacks. Staples got both the Service Ontario locations & the contract for school supplies. Doug, you don't even try to hide things anymore. thestar.com/politics/provinc…

Ford wants you to be angry with teachers if they decide they have to strike during the school year. The teachers had always planned to have all of the negotiations completed before Labour Day. If there's a strike and your kids are at home, direct your rage at Ford and Calandra.
The OSBCU asked to bargain early. We came ready to negotiate all summer. Minister Calandra promised a deal by Labour Day. Now it's clear: this was never about a deal. It's about control. Queen's Park deciding. Locals losing their voice. #BetterSchoolsBetterTomorrow 💜✊

Facts matter…. We asked to continue negotiating the central issues already agreed to be within central scope while the OLRB determines the remaining disputed items. The government refused and is insisting that central bargaining wait. We remain ready to bargain. #osstf #ontpoli

The Ford gov playbook has been the same from the start -discredit educators -convince the public we r the ones delaying Education workers want to bargain We need a gov willing to come to the table in good faith & discuss the real issues impacting students & workers #OntEd
NEW: Contract talks with four education unions are now on hold over a dispute that could stretch into the school year. ETFO, OSSTF, OPSEU and OSBCU are clashing with the Ford government over bargaining rules, before substantive issues like wages or class sizes are even discussed. Calandra is accusing them of choosing to pause bargaining, a claim one union is calling “hogwash.” STORY: thetrillium.ca/news/educatio…
