ALT Post from Donnie Piercey on X: Becoming a public educator should be one the most attractive, well-paying, and respected fields that someone should enter. ‘Wow! You got that second grade teaching job?! Congrats!’ ‘7th grade language arts AND the poetry club gig? Incredible!’
This group of 7th graders from 2020 are about to begin their senior year of high school. This was one of last days together unknowingly as the pandemic was around the corner. Hoping to see some familiar faces in the hallways of BHS this year 🧡💙
So exciting to see and hear Tyler James Williams from @AbbottElemABC at

First Day back from Winter Break! Starting strong with a session from @ConsciousTching. Always a fan of a PD where you can walk away with practical tangible tools to support students with trauma-informed practices 📚

Have you seen this woman or vehicle?
Eliza Fletcher was abducted this morning in midtown Memphis while running.
She was forced into a vehicle. There is no known direction of travel.
Tips? Call @MEM_PoliceDept at 901-528-2274 or 901-545-2677, or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. 1/3
Excited to be joining this team!!
Not only did we welcome back all our teachers yesterday, we add this amazing group of educators to our Rock Springs Middle family! WELCOME! We are definitely #BetterTogether.
You know it's going to be a good day when Starbucks is playing "Jumpin', Jumpin'" by Destiny's Child at 7:45 am.
Thank you, Nashville, for showing up and showing out to support all of us crazies running in the heat today!!!

Love seeing cross country members be recognized for excellence in the classroom!
Congratulations to our students of the week! Thanks for doing the right things and working hard. #weareblackman @Doctor_ACM @Mrs_PhillipsBMS @theburtalert1
Reading about teacher shortages, “…policymakers often focus attention, understandably on how to get more teachers in the profession. However, it is equally important to focus on how to keep effective teachers in the workforce.”
Last semester at @vupeabody and PUMPED about my Teacher Policy class. Looking forward to learning about policies and issues that affect teachers and then in turn, affect our students.
I have never been more entranced with a commercial than the way I am with @TiffanyAndCo’s current ad feat. @Beyonce singing “Moon River.”
I just watched the Pilot of #AbbottElementary. I was nervous about how they would portray teachers, but I have to say, it was well done and accurate. Looking forward to more.

In the last 2 hours, I’ve read a third of ‘Pushout’ by @MoniqueWMorris. I wish I had a more articulate response, but all I keep thinking is, “Every teacher needs to read this.”

Today, I met a 7-year-old Black girl who was amazed to know that I'm an author.
I showed her my friends, other Black women authors, and her jaw dropped.
We look like her, and we're doing what she wants to do. Suddenly, her dreams seemed more possible.
Representation matters.
