How do I get through hours of test grading on Sunday morning?
Make sourdough apple fritter focaccia while grading 🤤😍
And yes, it’s amazing.
Hot take: the slope formula is unnecessarily complicated and may students can calculate differences in their heads or with counting tools much faster and with way less mistakes 🙃
Side note: I never thought about this until this week. Year 11. WHY.

It’s amazing how the week after homecoming behavior is just… amazing.
It’s like the kids are excited to have a normal week again too. I’m not complaining 😅🤣
Seven (!!) of my coworkers ran a half or full marathon this morning!! It brings me so much joy to cheer on runners and this morning was no different 😁
(And if you know the book reference in that second one, we have similar reading vibes 💕)
Truly a best case scenario that the Monday after NCTM is “Woke Up Like This” day for homecoming week 🤣
Ended the night with my first Ignite!! I learned so much from each presenter (which is impressive since they only spoke for 5 minutes 🤯) AND @DrKChilds rocked it as the emcee 👏🏻 #nctmchi24
Also made my way over the exhibit hall and picked up a deck of Numeroso from @joyfulmaths 👏🏻 I’m so excited to play with my students!! #nctmchi24
Heard from @TimBrzezinski all about how grading works in a thinking classroom. Although I’m not grading to that level yet, he did a great job of making it look super doable and walking us through some issues we may have and how to fix them. #nctmchi24
Finally I attended my own session 😁 It was so energizing and fun to share all the ways I’ve tried to diversify my assessments over the years with a room full of teachers! Would 100% do it all over again 😁 #NCTMCHI24
Heard a great session about asset based teaching from @mdsteele47 and @Joleighhoney next! It was so refreshing to learn how to view student work from an asset-based lens rather than deficit based. #NCTMCHI24
Next up was hearing @bobsonwong and Larisa Bukalov share their expertise about how to use ELL strategies to help students learn the language of math. I appreciated being put in the shoes of a language learner and learning methods to help math language grow. #NCTMCHI24
