Late to the party π₯³ But this is a brilliant read full of research and practical ideas! A great book to get my brain working ahead of my first KIT day on Friday. Smashed it @MrsBallAP and @lamb_heart_tea πππ
Itβs been nearly a year since I posted on this app, but Iβve been very busy having our second baby Florence π Itβs been chaotic with a toddler and baby! Iβm back to work January 2027 but starting to feel ready to dip my toes into the teaching world with some recommendations π

Exciting (but still daunting!) announcements.
Following opting for voluntary redundancy in order to embark on a new challenge, I am looking for a new role and and I am officially launching my consultancy business.
Part 1: What can I offer an organisation?

Year 8 debating the Benin Bronzes was the highlight of my Thursday π Passionate arguments, excellent points reflecting on art, culture and history. I definitely need to plan more into the Year 8 lessons.
Introduced Year 7 and Year 8 to one of my favourite recall starters- find and fix! A mixture of literacy and historical errors. A resource shared on Twitter a few years ago (apologies I cannot remember the original tweeter) that is one of my go tos πππ

After successful years of building a culture of T&L in my current post, I am actively looking for a new challenge from January 1st.
The new challenges could involve:
- Assistant/Dep Head
- Trust Lead/Director of T&L / PD
- Teaching Hub/Research School roles
RTs appreciated
Trialling some new low stakes retrieval with Year 11- a piece of knowledge from each 4 topics so far and students tell me a fact. Hoping it helps with basic recall but also stretches the top end students to independently recall specific facts/dates π§
Three lessons with Year 11, three different types of retrieval βοΈ An independent task recalling Year 10 knowledge as we start mid-way through a unit, quick owner recall on the current topic and time period sorting for a Year 10 topic they struggled with in the last Y10 assessment
A sign that youβre returning to work and determined not to eat toast everyday for lunch ππ΄ Batch Cook afternoon > actual lesson prep!

Breaking up on a random Tuesday is not the one, but breaking up for summer is excellent π Ready for a rest and to feel refreshed for September π Thank you to anyone who has shared blogs or resources on here, Iβve always found the teaching community so supportive here.

A thread 𧡠on quick and impactful marking at KS4. Students attempted a question, highlighted on the mark scheme where they are and how to improve. Model answer provided
Got the classic Cold War thermometer out this week to show changing tensions during the Cold War. Also tried to push Year 9s with comparison of events to stretch explanation βοΈπ‘οΈ
Focus on adverbials today with Year 7 to try and develop their explanation and improve their academic writing βοΈ
Forever grateful to this platform for the guided reading template allowing students engage with Historical writing βοΈπ Plus Ai to make it accessible for those with lower reading ages to create adapted versions that answer the same questions.
