My mom became the first woman police officer in our hometown back in the ‘70s. She had to scale a wall for the physical fitness test, and after months of practice, she could do it faster than the men. She taught me how to make a goal, plan for it, and execute it. I've carried that my whole life.

1/ After a summer of grazing on Spring Valley’s grasses, we are guiding this #wildhorse boy band into the large catch pen by the spring boxes. Once they’re used to eating there, it will be easy to close the gate and move them on to their winter grounds.

You know who's a seriously feel-good horse? ENGLISHMAN, that's who. And he clearly enjoyed this morning's chilly temps at Keeneland.

Bay City Roller and his lad in the pre-parade at Ascot today before the Champion Stakes. I think the importance of a horse’s connection and relationship with their groom is rather understated in terms of relaxing horses pre race. These two look totally in harmony with each other. So lovely to see.

❤️ SHE WAS JUST WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BELIEVE IN HER ❤️
This sweet girl has been through so much, but all she needed was one person to see her, care for her, and give her a chance. 🐶🥺🐾
Now she has hope — but she still needs food, shelter, veterinary care and continued support while she starts a safer new chapter.
🙏 £20, £50, £100 or any amount can help support her care and recovery.

A mother moose kept chasing away her snow-white calf in a meadow in Sweden and left with only her brown one. A woman from the farm nearby raised the little white moose, and two years later she walked out of the forest again with a calf of her own.

Surfer enjoys the sun, but looks forward to cooler temps. Then he enjoys workouts in the arena. He's not a horse who likes sweating.

Some heartless people won’t congratulate her just because she is different💔😢

Smoothie was our first rescue! And he emerged from neglect to be a statesman leader of the new herd of God kids, passing quietly with Pixie and Nileist nearby, facing west in his pasture with both sets of hooves folded over each other. He achieved family, athleticism, a full tummy, and giving and receiving eternal love. A life well lived. All horses deserve that.

6 years ago today we lost Smoothie at 26 years old. Yet, he continues to remain with all of us, especially those of #TeamSmoothie... He horsonified everything good and kind in the universe. And continues to do so.

How Cool Is This! 🦢
Yesterday a large group of white Pelicans was spotted swimming near Cedar Key, Florida.
They were more than likely displaced due to hurricane Isaias.

A smart Border Collie is frantically digging through a deep snowdrift right next to a red barn. After some careful digging, the heroic dog uncovers a sheep that was completely buried alive in the snow. The sheep manages to stand up and shake off the cold, all thanks to the incredible instincts of this good boy.

Per Freddy's suggestion, which K agrees with wholeheartedly in the triage of Hackleton's abscess, shivers and high work ethic, Hackleton will stay barefoot. He will be monitored several times a day for any soreness or fever for the next two weeks. He has bute and banamine if he needs them. The rain may cause a glitch, but we'll work with what we have to. Including antibiotics if needed. The most important thing is Hackleton is comfortable and relaxed and in his home environment.
Shivers causes an extreme nerve response, especially with an abscess in certain areas of the hoof. It's like a a game of mouse trap, one thing leads to another. So we take everything into account when deciding the right treatment, including the horse's mental and physical health, strengths and limitations. Hackleton is extremely physically healthy. His mental state is fragile when it comes to the shivers, so we're downplaying it as much as possible. Step by step.
