Louisa M Alcott had it right:
“I want to do something splendid…something heroic or wonderful that won’t be forgotten after I’m dead. I don’t know what, but I’m on the watch for it and mean to astonish you all someday.”

ITV managed to get someone on the inside of Reform for several months as a Reform employee and it sounds like some very damning conversations were recorded.
Reform have been working overtime with their lawyers, threatening both civil and criminal action if those conversations are disclosed to the public.
Expecting an ITV documentary to drop imminently…
#Teachers know this at a deep level!
Lovely walk to my first #NEU meeting as rep for my school. the fountain in Town Hall square looks awesome. There is also good coffee… this is an excellent start.

If you're travelling between the UK and Bangladesh, make sure you and your children are vaccinated against measles, as there is an outbreak of the disease there. Contact your GP surgery to check if vaccinations are up to date for your family.

The sector: the curriculum too big, we can’t do it all. We’d also rather not have to deal with massive sweeping changes because those can be really hard to manage in a sector like ours.
The government: MOAR!!!!! WE WANT MOAAAAAARRRRRRRR AND YOURE GONNA DO IT ALL FROM NEXT YEAR

Activist: "Farmers pump their cows full of antibiotics. It's in every glass of milk."
Dairy farmer: "Do you know what happens if it is?"
Activist: "People drink it."
Dairy farmer: "The tanker gets tested at the gate. One cow's worth of antibiotic in 20,000 litres and the whole load goes down the drain. Every farm on the run that morning gets their milk tipped, and the farm that did it pays for all of it."
Activist: "So you're saying it never happens."
Dairy farmer: "I'm saying a treated cow on this farm gets red tape round her leg, goes to the back of the parlour, and her milk goes in a bucket for 6 days. I treat her like she's radioactive, because financially she is."
Activist: "You still use them."
Dairy farmer: "On a cow that's ill. Same as you. The vet writes it up, the date goes on the wall, and the wall's checked. Use on this farm is about half what it was 10 years ago, and that's every dairy I know."
Activist: "Routine use in feed, then."
Dairy farmer: "Illegal for years. Growth promoters went 20 years ago. You're describing a chicken shed in a country I don't farm in."
Activist: "You can't prove it's not in the milk."
Dairy farmer: "I can prove it 3 times a week, because they test it 3 times a week and send me the sheet. When did you last get a sheet on your oat drink?"
Activist: "That's different."
Dairy farmer: "It is. Nobody tests it. Mine's the most inspected liquid in your kitchen and it's the one you're scared of."

Off to rehearse for this month’s tour.
Heads-up. Some people’ve noticed I sing lower these days.
F’kin right I do. I’ve frivolously spent all me lady hormones & am now running on neat testosterone.
I will mostly be singing in the key of Whale.
I’m all but a protected species.

I, Kevin Rowland (the son of Irish immigrants) and the main songwriter of ‘Come On Eileen,’ am disgusted to learn that Nigel Farage has used our song to make his entrance for his party conference. Myself, and all of Dexys are passionately against Farage’s politics.
@ByDonkeys .
Anyone moaning about inset days probably would also moan about the fact that staff aren’t trained to support their child.
This week I’ve done:
- Anaphylaxis training
- Diabetes training x 2 (child specific)
- epilepsy training (buccal midazolam)
- Asthma training

Teaching is not currently a profession that is compatible with family life.
And it’s not simply about the number of hours teachers work each week. It’s the intensity of that workload, against a backdrop of rising pupil need and excessive class sizes.
The government must go further in recognising that teaching is a gendered profession, and that working conditions and family-friendly policies need to reflect that reality.
The improvements to maternity pay are welcome, but they are nowhere near enough.
We need to see maternity pay levelled up to 26 weeks on full pay, in line with what civil servants at the DfE receive.

You know, ever since university, thanks to my professors, I’ve trained myself to follow one ironclad rule: don’t assume that someone is a secret agent, a plant, or an enemy saboteur when their actions can be explained far more simply and naturally by ordinary human incompetence and bad judgment.
But this man is really putting my principles to the test.

Old person musing. I went for a walk with my three year old grand daughter this morning and in addition to all the farm animals, we saw a rabbit, a deer and loads of butterflies and she was constantly amazed. And my God, I was so so happy.

Mon Weather
A cool but bright start at 10c. The day will be mainly bright with a good deal of sunshine with just patchy cloud at times. Max temps will rise to 22c during the afternoon with a Moderate E breeze peaking at 20mph. A sunny evening with a cool night to follow min 11c.
Can we talk about how #teachers are expected to create #resources to teach using one tiny laptop screen a touchpad and whatever crap Internet you have at home? Squinting a screen for two hours one afternoon a week is not going to get the job done. #teacherlife
