I'm a white chick with brown hair. It's been pretty easy to see myself in books, toys, & media for my whole life. I never thought about being under-represented growing up and it certainly didn't occur to me then that groups of people were not represented nearly as much as others.
It's about realizing that you fit into the bigger picture. It's about feeling like you have something special that is noticeable - that you are worthy of stories being told about people like you and toys being made that look like you.
In the grand scheme of life, don't we all just want to feel that way?

Just wanted to share that YES Saved the Bees today! Got Mr. Brauner (a bee keeper) to come out, collect em up, and take them to their new home! All in all he collected about 5,000 honey makers! Never a dull moment at YES.
