To prove socialism doesn't work, the US needs sanctions, blockades, coups, and bombs. To prove capitalism doesn't work, you just need to walk the streets of the US.
That is the argument. And it is not easily dismissed.
The US Cannot Tolerate a Successful Alternative
Cuba has been under US blockade for over 60 years. The US has tried to assassinate Fidel Castro over 600 times. It has invaded the Bay of Pigs. It has funded terrorists. It has cut off trade, travel, and medicine.
Why? Because Cuba has literacy rates higher than the US. Because Cuba sends doctors to the world's poorest countries. Because Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the US. Because Cuba survived the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of its economic lifeline, and still refused to kneel.
If socialism doesn't work, you don't need to blockade it for 60 years. You just let it collapse on its own. But Cuba didn't collapse. So the US blockades it.
Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world. The US has sanctioned its oil, frozen its assets, recognized a fake president, and tried to assassinate its real president. Why? Because Venezuela used its oil wealth to fund social programs, reduce poverty, and build a multipolar foreign policy.
If socialism doesn't work, you don't need to sanction Venezuela into starvation. You just wait. But Venezuela didn't starve on its own. So the US sanctions it.
Iran has been under sanctions for 47 years. The US has shot down its planes, bombed its nuclear facilities, killed its scientists, targeted 85% of its oil tankers, and blocked its airlines.
If Iran is a failed state, you don't need to blockade it. You just watch. But Iran didn't fail. So the US blockades it.
The pattern is clear. The US does not blockade, sanction, and bomb failed states. It blockades, sanctions, and bombs states that are trying to build an alternative. It blockades, sanctions, and bombs states that prove the alternative can work.
Walk the Streets of the US
Walk through downtown Los Angeles. Tents. Fentanyl. Human feces. Shuttered storefronts. People with jobs sleeping in their cars.
Walk through Skid Row. 8,000 people sleeping on sidewalks. Mothers with children. Veterans with PTSD. Mentally ill left to die.
Walk through Appalachia. Opioid addiction. Collapsed coal towns. Communities that have never recovered from deindustrialization. Life expectancy lower than in Bangladesh.
Walk through Detroit. Block after block of abandoned houses. Streets with no streetlights. Schools with no books. A city that went bankrupt.
Walk through the Mississippi Delta. Some of the poorest counties in America. No hospitals. No doctors. No grocery stores. Just Dollar General and diabetes.
Walk through rural Oklahoma. Towns where the only jobs are at the prison. Towns where the water is undrinkable. Towns where children have never seen a dentist.
Walk through any American city. Check the homeless count. Check the overdose count. Check the suicide count. Check the student debt count. Check the medical bankruptcy count.
This is the richest country in human history. And this is what it looks like.
You don't need a socialist propaganda film. You just need a smartphone.
The Right-Wing Media Lies About Socialism
The right-wing media says socialism is Venezuela. That it is bread lines and dictatorship and poverty.
But what did socialism actually do?
◽The Soviet Union: Went from a feudal peasant society to a space-faring superpower in 40 years.
◽China: Went from a famine-plagued impoverished nation to the world's largest economy in 70 years.
◽Cuba: Has a higher literacy rate than the US, a lower infant mortality rate than the US, and sends doctors to the world's poorest countries.
◽Vietnam: Went from a war-devastated country to one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia.
◽Bolivia: Reduced poverty by half and extreme poverty by half under Evo Morales.
What did neoliberal capitalism do?
◽Russia in the 1990s: GDP halved. Poverty skyrocketed. Life expectancy collapsed. A few oligarchs stole everything.
◽Argentina in the 1990s: Privatized everything. Economy collapsed. Millions fell into poverty.
◽Greece after 2010: Austerity. Privatization. 25% unemployment. Suicides skyrocketed.
◽ The US after 2008: The banks were bailed out. The people lost their homes. The rich got richer. The poor got poorer.
Socialism doesn't mean going backward. It means going forward. It means equality, equity, and a good system. It means healthcare for all. It means education for all. It means housing for all. It means a future for all.
The US can't let people believe that. So it bombs, blockades, and sanctions any country that tries it.
The US doesn't oppose socialism because it doesn't work. It opposes socialism because it works. Because if socialism can work, then capitalism has no excuse. Because if socialism can work, then the US has been lying to its own people for a century. Because if socialism can work, then the empire has no future.
So the US uses every tool it has sanctions, blockades, coups, bombs to make sure that no socialist country is allowed to succeed.
But the truth is that the US is failing. The streets of New York and Los Angeles and Detroit are proof. The empire is rotting from within.
And the world is watching.
That is the argument. It is not a slogan. It is a fact.

Some observations on Kimi:
1. It's a very good model! I don't think its performance can be explained away by distillation or anything like that. In agentic coding sessions, it seems pretty much on par with the best public models of Q1 2026. In my fairly limited use, it also seemed very token hungry. It's not obvious to me that this model is actually that cheap to run.
2. I am personally surprised the Chinese state continues to allow the open sourcing of models this good, given potential risks. To be clear, I *myself* might be fine with models presenting this level of marginal risk being open weight, but I am surprised that China is fine with it. I suspect the reason they are is 75% explained by strategic blindness/lack of AGI-pilledness (the CCP is very Yann Lecun-y in its views of AI). The other 25% or so is their lack of compute for customer inference (making China's open-weight strategy an unintended byproduct of US export controls) and the normal Chinese strategy of aggressive exports. For the companies, as opposed to the government, the decision to open source is partially ideological and partially because they are behind, and they know that very few people would pay for sub-frontier models from China.
3. Open-weight models are inherently decelerationist, and I'm continually surprised to see the so-called "accelerationists" so excited about open-weight models. I suspect the reason they are is that they know open-weight models are effectively ungovernable, and they simply like the overall cloak of ungovernability open-weight models create over the whole of AI. It's not a bad strategy; it reminds me of James Scott's recounting of the hill people in "the art of not being governed." Still, in the end, open-weight models deter further AI capex.
4. One probable outcome of an open-weight-model-dominant world is full AI communism, which is precisely what China proposes: rather than a market product, AI is a "public good" which will ultimately be provided by the state as a kind of "digital public infrastructure." This future strikes me as a dystopian hellscape, but I've never met an open-weight models advocate who doesn't ultimately concede this is where things end. You'd be surprised how many 'accelerationists' lobbied me, while I was in government, to support an eleven or twelve-figure federally funded data center so that startups could train models at a subsidy and then give them away for free. There was no other way for AI to progress, they said. Perhaps this is the logical end state of things. Nonetheless, I find myself surprised to see supposed accelerationists excited about such an outcome. I think many of them just don't know what they're doing. Many accelerationists do not view the creation and serving of frontier models as a legitimate business.
5. I would guess that the Trump Administration will at some point realize that their best strategy here would be to create large amounts of regulatory risk around the use of open-weight Chinese models. You don't need to "ban open source" (one of the dumber motifs of AI policy discussion). You just need to direct every agency to issue soft law that creates FUD. "A Federal Reserve Advisory Bulletin found that there may be backdoors in Chinese AI models." It needn't be that well justified. You just create enough regulatory risk that every regulated enterprise backs off. You probably don't want to create so much regulatory risk that you scare off the hyperscalers from serving Chinese models; this will just drive startups to sketchier providers. There's a happy middle ground here. I'd assume they will do some version of this.
6. It's probably true that open-weight models of this capability make the world a bit more dangerous, but not so much more that you'll really notice. At some point the models will be capable enough that you will notice. "A nonliving, invisible, dangerous, and infinitely self-replicating agent escaped from a Chinese lab," you say? Color me shocked.

Felix Rodriguez is a walking index of U.S. crimes: Che's execution, CIA-backed death squads in Vietnam, Ilopango, Posada, Contras, drug allegations, pardons.
Tucker Carlson sat him down and performed the old operation in public: convert state violence into "interesting" biography.
His record matters because it shows how American power actually works when Congress, law, and public opinion become obstacles.
In Tucker's own interview, Rodriguez says the CIA sent Cuban exiles into Bolivia because they were not U.S. citizens and did not fall under the restriction on Americans.

After a plane went down, the official Iran-Contra investigation found Bush aides had information about North's resupply network through Rodriguez while Washington denied U.S. involvement.
Then came the perfect ending: Clair George, the CIA official convicted of lying to Congress about Max Gomez, was pardoned by Bush on Christmas Eve 1992.

Former DEA agent Celerino Castillo alleged cocaine moved through Ilopango hangars tied to North and Rodriguez. Rodriguez denies it. A Senate investigation still confirms traffickers were paid to fly Contra cargo.
The named allegations go further: Ramon Milian Rodriguez alleged Rodriguez solicited Medellin cartel money for the Contras, and former DEA supervisor Hector Berrellez alleged he was present during the 1985 torture of DEA agent Kiki Camarena.
Tucker did not even press the easy errors.
Rodriguez blamed Carter for ending CIA penetrations of Al Qaeda and causing 9/11. Al Qaeda did not exist when Carter was president.
He also said Sendero Luminoso took the Japanese ambassador's residence in Peru. It was MRTA, a separate rival group.
This is the limit of Tucker's anti-establishment turn: Israel can be condemned, but the CIA's anti-communist executioners still get laundered.
At the end, Rodriguez says he regrets nothing, "not one bit." Tucker calls it one of the most interesting lives he has encountered.
A cemetery became a resume.
Thus we arrive at the useful cognitive dissonance of Tucker exposing Israel while protecting the machine that armed it, sanctified it, and made it necessary to American power.

Remember when Nazism in Ukraine was dismissed as "Russian propaganda," that it was just a handful of "fringe" organizations the Western media and Western governments as early as 2014 would even sometimes condemn?
Remember how when it became too difficult to deny anymore, the US government even had to ban arms and training from reaching entire overt Nazi units within the Ukrainian military like "Azov?"
And Remember how after that, Nazism was so rampant it became impossible to cover up or work around so the US simply lifted the bans and began arming Ukrainian units openly operating under WW2 Nazi names and insignia?
Today, Ukraine is holding state funerals for World War 2 Nazi collaborators, burying them in official military cemeteries while its military operates under a vast collection of Nazi names and insignia.
The Western media is committed to now "complicating" a very uncomplicated chapter in history - by citing "divergent interpretations" (also known as lies) when objectively, historically, and from an international legal standpoint...
...the symbols used by official Ukrainian units and the collaboration of historical figures in Ukraine with Nazi Germany all have irrevocable meanings and roles rooted in the war crimes of Nazi Germany.
If what is considered modern-day "Ukraine" faces an existential fight and it is vast and growing numbers of modern day Nazis and extremists showing up to fight for it - that "Ukraine" probably shouldn't exist.
What this reveals about "Western values" is that those "values" themselves are but a facade the West hides behind - not upholds.

Für mich steht die stumme Klage des „Lost German Girl“ stellvertretend für das Leiden unzähliger deutscher Frauen am Kriegsende.
Für sie war der 8. Mai kein „Tag der Befreiung“.
14 Millionen Deutsche wurden aus ihrer Heimat vertrieben. Hunderttausende Frauen wurden vergewaltigt. Eine Million deutsche Soldaten kehrte nie aus sowjetischer Kriegsgefangenschaft zurück. Zehntausende überlebten den Krieg, nur um in den Rheinwiesenlagern zu sterben.
Das ist die Geschichte, die heute ausgeblendet, kleingeredet oder moralisch entsorgt werden soll.
Für mich ist dieses Thema auch persönlich.
Ich erinnere mich noch gut an die Erzählungen meiner Urgroßmutter über die letzten Kriegstage und die Ankunft der sowjetischen Besatzer.
Was unsere Vorfahren damals durchmachen mussten, war furchtbar. Und es verdient Erinnerung – keine Verachtung, kein Schweigen und keine Belehrung von denen, die deutsches Leid nur dann gelten lassen, wenn es politisch passt.
Wir müssen auch diese deutsche Geschichte erzählen.
So schlimm der Krieg war: Bombenterror, Vertreibung, Massenvergewaltigung, Hunger, Gulag und Mord sind keine Befreiung. Und sie sind erst recht kein Grund zum Feiern.
Das heutige geschichtspolitische Narrativ vom 8. Mai als reinem „Befreiungstag“ ist antideutsch. Es macht deutsche Opfer unsichtbar und verlangt von den Nachkommen, das Leid der eigenen Familiengeschichte als historische Nebensache abzutun.
Das lehne ich ab.
Gerade heute, da der Frieden in Europa wieder in Gefahr ist, müssen wir unsere eigene Geschichte kennen.
Nicht als staatlich verordnetes Ritual. Nicht als Schuldtheater. Sondern als ehrliches Gedenken an alle Opfer des Krieges – auch an die deutschen.
