I’ll stipulate that Trump is an agent of Putin.
Go down the checklist.
1. Destroyed the Western alliance? Putin wanted that.
2. Threatened a NATO ally over Greenland? Putin wanted that.
3. Pulled out of the intermediate nuclear pact? Putin wanted that.
4. Withdrawing 25-40,000 troops from Western Europe while Russian bellicosity is rising? Putin wanted that.
5. Russian satellites giving coordinates to Iranians killing our soldiers, and his response is “they kill us, we kill them”? What American president says that?
I think he’s been compromised.
The election of Donald Trump may be the greatest foreign policy success in post-Czarist Russian history.

What is the point of history if not to help us understand today?
80 years ago, in the early hours of this morning in Europe, ten of Herman Goring's fellow senior Nazis were executed at Nuremberg. Goring committed suicide, escaping the hangman's noose.
The Nuremberg executions set an important precedent that has not been universally upheld: state officials and military leaders can be convicted and executed for war crimes. Waging aggressive war, invading another country, is illegal under international law - a "crime against peace."
Why did Hitler and the Nazis come to power? What lessons can we learn for today?
Here are Goring's own reasons for the rise of Nazism and Hitler, with lessons for today.
1. Fear and Patriotism Silence Opposition
Göring’s view: Leaders can always make people do their bidding by telling them they are under attack.
The lesson today: Beware of leaders who use fear, foreign threats, or manufactured crises to force unity and silence critics.
2. Desperation Destroys Democracies
Göring’s view: Germany’s post-WWI economic collapse and humiliation made the public crave a radical savior.
The lesson today: Extreme economic hardship and social chaos make societies highly vulnerable to authoritarian promises.
3. Mainstream Enablers Provide Legitimacy
Göring’s view: As an aristocrat, Göring personally introduced Hitler to wealthy elites and military leaders who funded and legitimized the Nazi movement.
The lesson today: Radical movements succeed when mainstream political and financial elites tolerate or partner with them for short-term gain.
4. Institutions Can Be Weaponized from Within
Göring’s view: Once inside the government, Göring rapidly took over the police forces, created the Gestapo, and legally dismantled democracy.
The lesson today: Democratic systems are fragile and can easily be destroyed by leaders who use the law to crush political rivals.

Ukraine to resume strikes on Russian refineries, Zelenskyy says.
This is the most honest interview with Zelensky I’ve ever read. He drops all niceties about Trump and says it how it is. I don’t know how he held his tongue for so long.

On this day, @DavidShoebridge announced the death of The Greens as a political force in Australia.
By threatening local Ukrainians to act against their interests after the next Australian election.
The "peace" party is now officially pro-Russia.

Posts on Chinese social media have urged residents in the 3 northeast provinces to stockpile food and protective supplies, with some warning of possible future lockdowns. Separate anonymous claims circulating on X allege plague cases or deaths in Shanghai and Chongqing linked to recent Russia travel. These reports (rumors?) follow the Oct. 2 death of a lab worker at Russia’s Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute from pneumonia of undetermined cause. WHO notes the diagnosis remains unconfirmed and that Russian officials stated no recent plague cases were registered in Irkutsk Oblast. No official Chinese announcements have confirmed related cases in the Northeast, Shanghai, or Chongqing.
Is it just me or did I detect @almurray voice in the latest episode of Bearhunt?

What is the best benign explanation for the tragic death of the Irkutsk plague researcher of a 'pneumonia of unknown etiology' and Russian containment measures?
It deserves a fair hearing and careful analysis.

Many of you have been tracking the Irkutsk lab situation over the last few days.
I've been gathering facts and trying to understand what is happening before weighing in.
Now that I have, I have to say — I'm concerned

☣️🦠 UPDATE on pneumonic plague outbreak at the BSL-3 lab in Siberia. 🦠☣️
Russian gov't in TOTAL information control mode.
Baikalsk municipal admin warned residents NOT to travel to the area where the lab accident occurred, then deleted the info ~2 hrs later. Local REN TV deleted 5 posts about the accident. Local journalists who reported on the accident yesterday appear not to have not written any updates since.
Pneumonic plague is 100% fatal if not treated with antibiotics within the first 24 hours of symptoms. The biggest question being suppressed: have there been any more deaths from plague?
The US State Dept lists Russia as having an illegal bioweapons program, one of 2 nations (N. Korea is other). Genetic modifications / bioweapons engineering more likely done at Obolensk and Vector (in a BSL-4 lab), but this is impossible to know for certain.

This is fact, and also the inciting incident in my book BIOLOGICAL WAR: A SCENARIO, which is unnerving.
Will post more as I learn more, including from Russian speaking sources🧵

Excellent and revealing reporting by @markwillacy on 4corners. The admission that the PM didn’t want to make powerful enemies is particularly insightful.
Spot on @AlanKohler I have been saying this for years now.
