Zariyi, when terrorists attacked your people, we condemned the killings and supported your communities. You yourself accused the APC-led government of shielding perpetrators and punishing victims. Today, you belong to that same APC. Now, following the attack on NDC supporters in Asaba, you condemn the killing of a suspected attacker. But where is your outrage over the violence that preceded it? Let us define terrorism for you incase you have forgotten. Section 2(3) of Nigeria’s Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 recognizes that terrorism can be politically motivated. It includes acts intended to seriously intimidate a population or undermine fundamental political structures. When political actors organize violence to terrorize opposition supporters into abandoning their constitutional rights, that is political terror. Such conduct can amount to terrorism under Nigerian law. The NDC has accused APC-linked individuals of precisely this kind of intimidation in Asaba. Those allegations demand an independent investigation, not political excuses. @ZariyiYusufu, you once demanded accountability when violence threatened your people. Will you demand the same accountability when those accused belong to your new political camp? Has the APC suddenly become morally impeccable, or has your political allegiance changed the principles you once defended? You cannot condemn terror when your people are victims and become selective when political opponents are targeted. Justice cannot depend on whose party membership card the perpetrator carries. State your position with your full chest.
