Finally getting around to organizing my archive and finding all sorts of vignettes. Like this throwback to the time when I spent 3 weeks in Niamey, Niger.
I have taken delivery of mannequin heads for portrait light pattern practice. In a couple weeks, I should be ready to do human trials
I shot a parade last weekend. I’ve never been to one before, much less shot one. And I now have two rules I must follow for subsequent ones. 1 - Don’t shoot the parade. 2 - Stop down, for god’s sake
I’m shooting B/W to improve how I perceive light, but because I’m capturing in raw/jpg, I can see what could also be in the full spectrum when I go to review later, and it’s very…um…distracting? At least in the near term. Perhaps I should commit fully and just shoot JPG.
I’m currently at the Dunning Kruger phase of photography where I’m convinced that this can pass for abstract urban geometry

One day a couple years ago, I was walking down the street in Lagos, and observed Dele, camera in hand, taking photos.
Street photography is a tricky thing to do in Lagos, so I approached him to ask if I could shadow him for a day.
This is the result.

I’m in the middle of translating some Yoruba exchanges from a Lagos street photography vignette that’s been sitting on my hard drive for ~2 yrs, and the dialogue gets funnier (at least to me) as things escalate. Of course there’s nuance that just the text cannot convey
