Whenever I doubt society, or need to be reminded about what really matters, I go to @StVincentsLeeds. Their unreserved and non-judging care and love for everyone that steps through the door is so apparent, I can't help but feel hopeful.
I'm only a very small part of this #coop, but it feels meaningful, and a way that I can progressively reduce the carbon impact of the electricity I use, probably for the rest of my life! Can't wait until it's commissioned this winter.

As a keen and vested member of 2 wind and 1 solar @RippleEnergy projects I'm also excited about what the next few years will bring in terms of acceleration of the decarbonisation of our electricity system.
🤞🤞🤞

Just checked which of my general election candidates had expressed support for the @WeAreCyclingUK 'manifesto', and delighted to see that @edleeds has. There's been a lot of great work to enable cycling in #Leeds but this needs to go further and faster (IMO).
This makes me sad. #UtSF is a brilliant festival. I've volunteered at it 4 times, and loved being a very small part of this. It created an inclusive and welcoming community, something to be proud of. It let me dance, sing, laugh, connect, and be moved to tears.
Thank you.
✨Let's Celebrate One Last Time✨ It's with heavy hearts that we announce this year’s festival will be our last for now. 🥲 Worry not though, all is on track to ensure that 2024 will be our best yet🎪🥳 Find out more here... underneaththestarsfest.co.uk…
As a #cyclist I don't disagree with the 4th story - anyone and everyone should be accountable for their actions. But surely the first story is where our focus should be... on doing a lot more to improve road safety and stop the 5 people that die EVERY DAY from cars.
I'm proud to be part of @Cheesecake_CEL, helping develop this innovative energy storage technology and play my part in supporting decarbonisation - rapidly, equitably, and sustainably.
I visited @Cheesecake_CEL, where they are developing one of the world's greenest batteries, with funding from the government.
In our future that will be powered by renewables, we will need to store excess energy on sunny and windy days, to use for when we need it the most 📹
I wonder whether Reddy and Teddy's choice of books which match and complement their own colours is a conscious or subconscious decision.
Having invested in Kirk Hill, I'm very excited that this project is successfully nearing completion. Soon, through it, I'll have enabled a proportion of my electricity consumption to be generated from wind.
We're celebrating a huge moment today. Kirk Hill Wind Farm has officially generated power for the first time ⚡️As the UK's largest people-owned wind farm in operation, 5,600 owners made this happen. With each member owning an average of a credit card sized slice of this incredible wind farm, they are actively changing the landscape of green energy in the UK. That's real climate action to be proud of 👏

I've just finished the @GreenpeaceUK #TheBigPlasticCount. It's sobering to realise just how much avoidable plastic I produce and dispose of.
Such simple and impactful communication.
How have we let this happen...

ITV interviews a man in a group waving a white flag at Israeli forces in Gaza.
Once the interview is finished, an Israeli sniper shoots him dead.
Car insurance renewal just arrived. No accidents, claims, or change in risk profile (that I'm aware of) during the year, but a 77% increase in premium!
Today was blood donation day for @GiveBloodNHS. 55th donation, because I'll never know when a niece, nephew, brother, sister, parent, friend or stranger may need it.
An hour of fixing... @ORTLIEBwaterpro pannier, @Alpkit jacket, and my 45 year old teddy's ear.
On a day when everything else has fallen apart, at least I can feel in control of these small things.
Tuff Tape, Duct Tape, needle and thread.
Apparently in Leeds we only recycle 10% of our aluminium foil; 128 tonnes. We throw away 1,292 tonnes, which will end up being incinerated in the Leeds 'Recycling' and Energy Recovery Facility.

But what this really illustrates to me is the aggregate impact of multiple small actions.
Throwing away a few trays after a meal rather than rinsing them and recycling them seems immaterial, but collectively it's not.
Changing the behaviours of 300,000+ households feels daunting. How this can be done quickly? In a climate emergency we need to do all we can...
Organisations like xitter.cf/leedsrecycles are doing a great job, but with 4,500 followers are probably preaching to the converted.
