Listen to how cool the chord progression is in today's Song of the Day! I am tempted to pull out my guitar and figure it out, but I am so bad at it. Maybe today is a good day to be bad at something?

We're looking for a storefront where we can shoot a very quick scene for EVIL SPOT sometime in the next few months.

This was funny to read. I always say it is gift not to have cringe. Cringe culture cripples in so many ways. Janan Ganesh in his short FT piece Winners Don't Do Irony, says that "lots of winners are incapable of irony." He gives an example of the working environment in elite sports which have what should be laughable signs and slogans but for them, "the cringe never comes."
The arguments against this are many and important, but I can totally see how completely ridding oneself of cringe can lead to the kind of "relative" success that the Poop Song guy has. He is able to live from his prolific productions, a thing that many, more respected artists, full of irony and cringe, struggle to do.
Matt Farley is the most prolific singer-songwriter of all time. He's written over 26,000 songs and makes $200k/year off music streaming royalties.
He's also:
- made 18 movies
- written 5 books
- been profiled by NYT and Wired
He's best known as "The Poop Song Guy". I watched him perform live at "Burp. Fest" and he opened with "Diarrhea Bounce Back". "Experts have declared that Matt Farley is a genius." is something I can only say with quotes, because he tweeted it himself.
I spent a week with him in suburban Massachusetts, going on a 15 mile "epic walks", attending his homeschool kids talent show, and listening to his greatest hits over 5 hours of car rides, with him pausing to explain his "genius" every other minute.
I've never been more inspired by anyone. Just by being himself, he's given me more confidence in my ideas and what could come from putting them out into the world. He's independently discovered and embodied "do things that don't scale" and "ramen profitability" without reading Paul Graham.
We talked about creative exhaustion from AI, how inspiration is everywhere, "reverse stealing" to promote his music before the internet, and why artists fake being sad for attention.
I wrote for @sfalexandria_ on how and why he puts in such an overwhelming amount of effort into his creative process.

I remember my SO and I listened to an NPR segment about Matt Farley. At the end she turned to me and said man this guy’s got the right idea.
