🚨 Over 20,000 seats were left empty at the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City's 5-1 Champions League victory over AEK Athens last night. 🏟️
Just 40,042 fans attended despite Phil Foden scoring a hat-trick, with images of the empty stands sparking widespread mockery on social media.
As a reminder, this is a club that once claimed to earn more revenue than Real Madrid.

Adam’s spot on here.
Man City is a small club with a small fanbase and almost no fans abroad who would fly in for a UCL game unlike Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd etc.
Which is why it makes perfect sense that their sponsorships are at more expensive than Real Madrid’s 💀

Totally missing the point. If you were an actual big club, you’d have thousands of people who don’t have season tickets and don’t have regular access AND tourists desperate to finally get into a game.
Big clubs don’t need the same small group paying for every game.
Newcastle sold out St. James’ Park every match-day in the Championship.
Manchester City can’t even sell out on a Champions League night after winning everything there is to win.
The soul matters. The culture matters.
In fact, it matters a hell of a lot more than winning.

They have been exposed so what’s fun there. They didn’t actually have those fans before, they gathered them when the started cheating

Athens fans so loud and calling us cheating bastards, whistling when we have the ball it's almost like we're playing an away game. City fans in Manchester should be ashamed of themselves!
