Look who it is! I recently drove right past Ingenuity and got a pic after it ended its 53rd flight early. Happy to say it’s since completed a 54th flight to check out its systems. (Even caught a glimpse of me too!) Latest #MarsHelicopter status: go.nasa.gov/43YuiqW

It's here–the deepest, sharpest infrared view of the universe to date: Webb's First Deep Field. Previewed by @POTUS on July 11, it shows galaxies once invisible to us. The full set of @NASAWebb's first full-color images & data will be revealed July 12: nasa.gov/webbfirstimages

The caves at Lava Beds National Monument have such diverse entrances. Some require crawling between rocks or descending a small ladder, while others are wide open and require only a couple of steps. No matter what the entrance is like though, safety is the top priority! 🔦⛑

Here’s another example of how ultraviolet light can provide a completely different look at some microbial communities! The left image shows specific biofilm under visible light, while the right side shows the same area under UV. #microbiology #nasa #astrobiology
Lava tubes are caves formed from ancient lava flows. These caves make great analogs to other planets because we know volcanoes are common in the solar system and have even imaged entrances to these caves with Mars-orbiting satellites 🛰 🌎 🤖

Congratulations to NASA and all their collaborators! First powered autonomous flight on another planet successful! Btw, it is also a vision-based flight (single-camera + IMU + laser altimeter).

Safe & sound on the surface of Mars: the #MarsHelicopter, Ingenuity, has survived the first cold night on its own, a major milestone for the small rotorcraft because surface temps can plunge as low as -130 degrees F (-90 degrees C). go.nasa.gov/3dztqB1
