This week the Public Finance for Prosperity and Resilience initiative will be launched at the #AfricaMindsetReset forum.
The forum, convened by leaders including President Kagame Mahama, is about who controls Africa's development trajectory.
@Francis_Gatare @KatoKimbugwe
Public financial management sits at the center of that conversation. Many African governments face a dual challenge. Revenue mobilization that falls well short of potential. And public spending that delivers far less than it could.
Fantastic to see this moving a long at this scale and pace. Excellent example of how to shift from commitments to action! @WBG_Health
This week we’re in Bangkok 🇹🇭 with 11 SUN countries, partners & donors for a 4-day workshop on nutrition-responsive public financial management.
Why? Because better financing is key to turning nutrition commitments into impact.

Strengthening financing for PHC will require integrating it into the budget in a meaningful way. CPIA 2024
"Public financial management arrangements in the health sector often do not recognize primary care in a way that can be budgeted for explicitly or prioritized. It thereby eludes legislative review and broader public discourse. In donor-dependent countries, primary care is often supported by the development partner community and outside the government’s prevailing service delivery arrangements." openknowledge.worldbank.org/…
The 2024 CPIA Africa report notes that budget execution in health continues to be a problem for service delivery.
Coordination problems among agencies can be addressed through more purposeful communication and building trust. @WBG_Health @wbg_gov
