I still remember when my colleague was kidnapped on her way home from work early this year.
For two months, her parents ran from pillar to post, borrowing money and begging family and friends to help raise the ransom.
When she finally came home, she narrated how they were gang-raped every morning and night.
The kidnappers chose their victims and temporary married them to themselves celebrating, eating and drinking like it was a legal union.
She said sometimes they shared one woman among two, three, or four men.
Weeks after her release, she was found pregnant.
That same week, we lost her to su!cide. The trauma was more than her heart could bear.
And whenever I see people still supporting this government, I remember her. I remember her parents, I think of other victims that never made it to the media.
How do you watch people suffer d!e like this and still defend a government that has failed to protect them?
Are you human at all or just deliberately wicked?
550K Where?
Men in this generation don't know what is in store for them...
We went house hunting and we came across one after hours of searching. The house is two bedrooms and a parlour self contain, total package 550k.
The building is good and it's suited in a good environment. The first tenant in the compound sells in the market and she shares the same spot with a friend of mine( a married woman) who sells in the market too.
She is someone I know and so it was easy to get informations about the surrounding from her. Few days later, I went to the market to say hi to the women since it been a while I last visited.
We were all gisting when the woman asked if we're still interested in the house or still thinking about it.
The other got curious and asked what we were talking about. Amebo, yeah but she's one of us so we gave her the gist of what is happening. She begged we take the house and not loose guide because the house is convenient and good. I jokingly answered her, nobody is loosing guiding here. If we have that 550k sitting pretty in our banks, we would probably take the offer the next day.
It was all fun and we were laughing about it until she said, 'I don't know why you don't want to get married. Na your husband supposed pay this rent but you're here forming big girl.'
I honestly thought I was over hearing things until she said it again.
Seriously, walahi, to God who made me, men in this generation are in for a big sh't.

Dear Muslim,
List your absolute priorities,
Your non negotiable routines.
Sneak in "seeking knowledge"
Then time it; say 15 minutes daily
Will be hard at first
But after a while
You'll adapt
If you're unable to sneak it in
It might mean you don't prioritize seeking knowledge.

One of the strongest tells when AI produces any kind of narrative/storytelling—an article, a landing page, a script, whatever—is that it will always tell, not just show. It still can’t help itself, yet.

A few days ago, an active X user complained that she couldn't afford her medication because its price had skyrocketed due to the dollar-naira exchange rate. She cursed the government. Days later, she posted "Death, sweet death", which was her last post. She was later declared dead.
I ran a quick check on her page. For weeks, she had posted about her exasperation, likely stemming from a failed relationship, and had wished herself dead. She prayed for it. She wished she could be euthanised.
I checked the account to see whether anyone had refuted or verified the death story before this post. Unfortunately, it was deleted. I assume it was true; someone close to her likely deleted the account. But what am I trying to say here?
Many people are going through hard times these days. They may be close to us by blood or by where they live. They may be our "friends", neighbours, colleagues, etc. However, we may not find out unless they open up or we take the time to notice. They rarely speak out, and we often notice only when it's too late.
Social media may be a useful space to open up (if you are depressed) and to notice a depressed person, even when they do not visibly open up. The X user appeared depressed. Sadly, no one noticed her suicidal posts, which continued for days before her apparent suicide.
Talk to your loved ones if you are contemplating or wishing for death. In China, loneliness is now a business. If you feel lonely, you can hire people to talk to, etc. This can help those on the brink of depression. But we cannot do the same. Luckily, we are surrounded by family and friends. So, reach out.
May Allah (SWT) make things easier for anyone going through a tough time in their life, amin. May He guide and protect us, amin.
Muhsin
