In our recent episode, @EvansLaboratory and I have a candid conversation about our experience arriving in the US and how new fellows and students can overcome the obstacles and cultural differences they face. Watch the episode below!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful 20th Midwest Platelet Conference. Presented a new project on platelets as stress sensors with insult-specific fingerprints. The mug says "Certified Platelet Genius." I'll let the data decide. See you in Milwaukee for MPC 21! PS. From science to Top Gun. That’s the true level of being unpredictable.

In Corpus Christi for the 20th Midwest Platelet Conference, one of my favorite meetings. Strong program this year, from platelets-on-chip to thrombopoiesis, AAA, and HIT. Looking forward to the science and catching up with the platelet community! P.S. Morning runs got a view upgrade.

ATLAS VIALS is out - Proud to have been part of it. 161 visual reasoning tasks built from real bench output: gels, plasmid maps, structures, phylogenies. Ten frontier models evaluated. Read the full release: arxiv.org/abs/2608.21357 @joinHandshake @jomulr
Today we're launching ATLAS Visual Life Sciences (VIALS), a benchmark testing whether AI can interpret the images life scientists make decisions from. 10 frontier models. 161 tasks from real biotech and pharma workflows. Best score so far: 26.5% — a clear, measurable gap to close. The majority of CKD cases in CKM syndrome are attributable to diabetes, hypertension, and other metabolic risk factors. However, kidney-protective therapies such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors/angiotensin II receptor blockers and sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors have demonstrated kidney and cardiovascular benefits for patients with CKD from metabolic etiologies as well as from some other causes. Therefore, the CKM staging construct is relevant for all patients with CKD. professional.heart.org/en/sc… ✍🏼 @ChiadiNdumele @HeartDocSadiya @kardiologykazi @noshreza @virani_md @biykemb @NutritionHF @mandeepbajaj65 @KatherineTuttl8 @RangaswJ @lisaVWMD @KBreathettMD @EmoryFamMed @ShoaClarke @mad_sters @jmortonmd @sripalbangalore @AnumSaeedMD

Earlier this month, I began serving as Chair of the ATVB Membership Committee and joined the ATVB Leadership Committee! Having become involved in ATVB service relatively early in my own “early-career” journey, one of my priorities is to ensure that the perspectives of trainees and scientists at the earliest stages of their careers are represented, especially when decisions are being made about mentorship, professional development, career pathways, and where they belong within our scientific community. Under the leadership of my good friend @JeffHsuMD, the Membership Committee created a genuine sense of belonging and built tremendous momentum in expanding and engaging our council membership. I certainly have big shoes to fill, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue that work alongside an outstanding committee. Our goal will be to strengthen the ATVB community by welcoming and retaining trainees, early- and mid-career investigators, international scientists, and colleagues from diverse scientific and professional backgrounds. As always, looking forward to suggestions, comments, and feedback from our wonderful community. @atvbahajournals @AHAScience

Proof that the two RPTH Social Media Associate Editors actually exist in the same place at the same time. After months of working behind the scenes, it was great to finally meet in person at #ISTH2026. The duo behind much of the @RPTHjournal social media content is officially together! @isth

#ISTH2026 in Paris brought together a global community of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge on the latest advances in thrombosis and hemostasis. The Congress featured groundbreaking research, clinical innovations, and evolving therapeutic strategies spanning thrombotic disorders, bleeding diseases, anticoagulation, platelet biology, and vascular medicine. Beyond the scientific sessions, ISTH 2026 served as a platform for international collaboration, enabling experts to present new data, discuss emerging evidence, and explore developments that may shape future research and clinical practice.
