This is true.
Merge mining means Bitcoin miners are relying on the success and sustainability of another chain.
The risk is too high for this to be the consensus for Bitcoin when there's already competing chains with trillions in activity.
Bitcoin needs a market driven solution that pays miners directly without depending on any external factor besides Bitcoin itself.
There's nothing more efficient than this and it preserves Bitcoins supply cap and doesn't require any protocol changes.
Everything else does NAT come close.
Replying to @c64f7e94
Man, you really don't get it, do you? 🤦
The fundamental problem with your proposed "solution" is that under those conditions, Bitcoin's success actually becomes dependent on the success of an entirely DIFFERENT blockchain. 😂
You can call it a sidechain, you can pay miners in pegged BTC, go ahead, do whatever, knock yourself out buddy. 🤷
But if that other network fails to attract sufficient economic activity (which they all do), then the supplementary miner revenue dies with it, so then what do you expect the Bitcoin miners to pay their bills with?
You're standing here making out that you're smart because you're proposing that Bitcoin's future security economics become dependent on the success of ANOTHER network!?! Do you know just how dumb you sound doing that?
Meanwhile, NAT is derived from Bitcoin's own PoW block production and the data contained within them, and yet you still can't see how that's a more efficient and ultimately more robust anchor for an additional economic mechanism to be tied to?
Class is over Joe. Don't forget to do your homework next time. 👋

花了一个小时看了剑桥大学可替代金融中心发表的“赋能比特币的未来”一篇论文
论文原链接:jbs.cam.ac.uk/faculty-resear…

Cambridge's new report on Bitcoin's security budget asks it directly:
"What happens when the security budget shrinks?"
The most interesting page is 42, on money that comes from outside Bitcoin. Sounds familiar

NAT is picking up steam in perhaps the most fearful market we’ve seen since we started the podcast.
What is causing this surge in price and how do we see it developing from here? 👇
Join us as we discuss the biggest problem in crypto and why ethereum:0x249130f5e2dd4cf278180c0df8273f3592ad1247 is THE MOST IMPORTANT ASSET IN ALL OF CRYPTO!
Why ethereum:0x249130f5e2dd4cf278180c0df8273f3592ad1247 Is About To Shock The World! ViaBTC To Distribute?! HUGE OPPORTUNITY!
Most people think Bitcoin is healthy as long as a block shows up every 10 minutes. We think that's the wrong measure. The real one is the cost of attack, and every halving cuts it. With fear in the air and nobody able to say why, @natgmi just doubled in about a week, and we're nearing NAT's three-year anniversary. So we went back to the basics of why it exists.
We walk through how the biggest Bitcoin miners validated the thesis this year, with @f2pool and @SpiderPool_com distributing NAT on top of BTC. We clear up why NAT shows up as an @ethereum token when it's a Bitcoin asset built on @tap_protocol, get into the community pressure on @ViaBTC over 3.5 trillion mined NAT that never reached pool contributors, and walk through the security budget widget on natgmi.com step by step.
The part nobody wants to say out loud is that Bitcoin only has three ways out of this. Make the supply infinite, tax everyone, or let a second subsidy carry the load. Public miners and @Strategy already list the declining security budget as a risk in their filings. It's a known problem that gets swept under the rug every cycle because price kept doubling, and the last cycle was the first time it didn't.
That's why holding NAT feels a lot like The Big Short to us. It doesn't need a code change, an emergency meeting with @saylor, or anyone's permission. It just needs people to notice the math before everyone else does. If you want the full thesis, read the NATpaper: natgmi.com/natpaper

election week.
relaunch week.
nothing here is a coincidence.
additional info following soon.
You are trying to guess the next Bitcoin top. The miners are trying to survive the next halving.
The original block subsidy is bleeding out. L1 fees are stuck under 1%. The math points to a security budget collapse.
But 65% of global hashrate isn't panicking. They are quietly mining the second block reward.
ethereum:0x249130f5e2dd4cf278180c0df8273f3592ad1247 isn't a crypto narrative. It is the structural bailout for the protocol.
Keep ignoring it. The infrastructure will gladly mine your share before you wake up.

Day 510 #NatTo1bChallenge
While the timeline trades narratives, game theory is executing live.
@ViaBTC - one of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining pools - just told miners to wait for their post tomorrow on $DMT-NAT distribution.
The pools are waking up to the second paycheck. They have to, or they bleed hashrate to the ones that do.
You have less than 24 hours before the infrastructure makes it official.
Front-run the miners, or get left behind.

Bitcoin's block subsidy is bleeding out. L1 fees are stuck under 1%. Public miners are defecting to AI data centers just to survive.
But 65% of global hashrate just found the backdoor.
AntPool, F2Pool, ViaBTC, MARA, Luxor, SpiderPool. They aren’t chasing timeline hype. They are quietly securing a second paycheck.

Merge mining could pay Bitcoin miners more.
The catch: it needs a whole new chain, with its own developers, ecosystem and execution risk.
NAT needs none of that. A second subsidy without a second chain. ethereum:0x249130f5e2dd4cf278180c0df8273f3592ad1247 @WhiteBit

Bitcoin miners are done pretending.
Hash price fell from $440 to $36 per petahash; @Binance Pool walked away, and public miners are building AI data centers instead.
The big voices stay quiet.
EP337: We ask a mining pool insider what actually saves Bitcoin's security budget.👇
Bitcoin Mining Has a BIG Problem! | Interview w/ Nick Bain @WhiteBit | TBR#337
Bitcoin miners are getting squeezed, and almost nobody with a big audience wants to say it out loud.
We sat down with Nick Bain, head of business development at WhitePool, the mining pool run by @WhiteBit, to talk about what it actually looks like from inside a pool right now. Nick has been in Bitcoin mining since 2019, from merge mining at Jax Network to brokering energy for miners and AI data centers, and he gives us the numbers straight: hash price was about $440 per petahash at the 2021 peak and sat around $36 the day we recorded.
We get into what the security budget really is, why more hash power does not automatically mean more security, and where Bitcoin's value comes from in the first place. Nick shares a story from Mining Disrupt about a public mining executive who wanted to 51% attack Bitcoin SV and short it, and the only thing that stopped him was how it would look. We talk about why miners are practical businesses, not marketers, why the public miners are pivoting to AI, and the TSMC agreement that keeps new ASICs flowing even when demand is weak.
Then we lay out the four fixes on the table: make Bitcoin infinite, tax holders, merge mining, or a second token paid to miners. Nick walks through why Dogecoin is worth more per block than Litecoin, its own mother chain. We disclose that we helped launch @natgmi, and we explain how it is tied to Bitcoin's bits field, why its emissions fall as hash power rises, and which pools are already distributing it.
The part that stuck with us most is how fragile the safeguards are. If ethics is the only thing between a large miner and a profitable attack on a smaller chain, incentives are doing all of the real work, and those incentives are shrinking every four years for Bitcoin itself. Hash rate charts going up and to the right hide that, because cheaper, more efficient machines can add hash power without raising the cost of attack.
What we keep coming back to is that every holder will eventually have to pick a path. Either the supply changes, holders get taxed, fees somehow show up on chain, or Bitcoiners accept a second asset that pays miners. None of those choices are comfortable, and that is exactly why the people with the biggest platforms keep avoiding the conversation.
