If this is true there’s no point. Might as well just let them stay in the Prem. Everything they’ve built has been the product of cheating and anything short of all titles stripped and expulsion from league football will tell everyone that the cheating was absolutely worth it

Everyone who opposed state ownership has been vindicated to such a comical extent that those who defended it should be viewed the same way as people who argued that tobacco was good for lung health in the 1950s.
Exclusive with @AlexDooler @DNair5 UAE officials have warned the UK government that the severity of Man City’s punishment could undermine their appetite for future grand-scale commitments in Britain, according to people familiar with the matter They consider the Premier League’s actions to have an influence on the bilateral state relationship, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing undisclosed information The extraordinary pressure comes after Andy Burnham faced criticism, including from within government, for saying Man City’s Abu Dhabi owners should not be disqualified specifically because of the investment they bring to Britain bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Reminder this is only the cheating from 2009-10 to 2017-18. This doesn’t even include their last 8 years. You don’t systematically cheat for that long then stop. Nothing short of stripping Man City of every single post ‘08 trophy and sending them to non-league is good enough

The most shameful, cowardly, and pathetic World Cup final performance of all time. Football is the winner in the end. Thank god.

It’s always amusing how some American hyper-capitalists will present things which are completely normal and uncontroversial everywhere else in the world as sadly being total impossibilities in the US.
Youth soccer (youth sports) is a competitive market with businesses selling a product that obviously customers are willing to pay for. I’d love if soccer was free to all. But who is going to pay for all this free soccer?

Set the question of Balogun's match ban aside. FIFA should, after this tournament, change its rules so that match bans are appealable. It's fine to accept that stupid decisions by a referee are a necessary part of the game he's refereeing. It makes no sense to let a ref's stupid decision go on to dramatically affect the next game as well.
It is irrelevant whether Balogun deserved a red card. Referees make stupid decisions all the time. If personal diplomacy and power can override decisions and the USA wins, it means outcomes are being decided off the field. That's match-fixing, and the end of sports.

The worst part about this Balogun situation is that somehow even when we get screwed (almost getting knocked out of the World Cup by a bullshit red card) we now look like the bad guys.
So by suspending the “red card” they are admitting without admitting, that the decision was absolutely wrong (which we knew). But to do this 24 hours before the game is quite a thing and will create a stir in Belgium no doubt. Right outcome, wrong process. Crazy turn of events.

Most Americans don’t hate soccer. They hate being bad at watching it. If you only see shots and goals, the game feels slow. If you see pressure, space, tempo, traps, runs that create other runs, and the pass before the pass, the game never stops. That’s when the sport clicks.
