The Law by Bastiat made simple:
1. Every person has a natural right to defend their life, liberty, and property. Law is simply that individual right organized collectively – nothing more, nothing less.
2. The moment law goes beyond that — taking from some to give to others — it has stopped being law and become legal plunder.
3. Legal plunder isn’t exceptional. It’s the normal operating mode of most governments most of the time: subsidies, redistribution, bailouts – each one a faction using state force to extract what it couldn’t get by voluntary agreement.
It was all already there in 1850.
4. The test is simple: if the same act performed by a private individual would be called theft, it’s theft when the state does it too. The badge doesn’t change the nature of the act.
5. Two wrong responses to legal plunder: give everyone the right to plunder (socialism), or let the current plunderers keep going (cronyism).
The only legitimate answer is to strip law back to its actual function.
6. Once people see law as a machine for taking rather than protecting, everyone floods politics to control it – because whoever runs the machine can point it at their enemies. This is why Bastiat defined the state as “that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else.” Lobbying and corruption aren’t aberrations. They’re the logical conclusion of a law that plunders.
7. The title is the whole argument: Bastiat isn’t describing what the law is. He’s describing what it’s supposed to be – and showing, relentlessly, how far the thing calling itself law has drifted from that. Real law protects. Everything else wearing that name is organized force and theft in disguise.

The news was on 24/7. As soon as there was a shot it was zoomed in, stills were created & we all fucking saw it. Gen X here. I was an adult & you may fuck all the way off.
Millennials love pretending there were isolated shots of people jumping out of windows on live broadcasts of 9/11 and they could totally see that on the 21” CRT TV wheeled into their classroom. Most probably didn’t even have a TV in the classroom and are conflating memories.

Live TV broadcasts on 9/11 included on-air reports of people jumping from the WTC towers (e.g. WCBS at 9:54 a.m.: "We saw at least five or six"; CNN graphics and descriptions) and CBS briefly showed a jumper before calling it a mistake.

I’m going to start calling myself a Restorative Conservative because I don’t think conserving the status quo is enough anymore.
The status quo is broken.
We have a federal government buried in debt, consumed by mandatory spending and interest, that is incredibly detached from its core constitutional responsibilities.
This has been supported by generations of politicians who refuse to touch the programs driving us toward fiscal and economic collapse.
Restorative Conservatism means restoring the proper role of the federal government:
Secure the border, maintain the strongest military in the world, protect the constitutional order, honor obligations to veterans and those who have already built their lives around promises like Social Security and Medicare, and then begin the difficult work of dismantling, devolving, or reforming the massive entitlement and welfare state that Washington has built atop mountains of our forcibly taken monies.
The “so what” is simple, there is nothing conservative about conserving national decline.
If we continue borrowing from future generations to maintain a government we cannot afford, eventually the economics will make every other political argument irrelevant.
The goal is not to destroy government.
The goal is to restore a federal government strong enough to do what it must, restrained enough to stop doing what it should not, and solvent enough to survive.
Let’s start actually fighting to take our government back from being the biggest welfare state in the entire world.

Imagine if you didn’t have to forcibly give 20-30% of your income away each month so that other people get free shit…
It would be easier to be a stay at home mom then, wouldn’t it?
If you make $75,000 with no dependents and standard deductions, the federal government takes $13,408 of that or 17.8%.
If you make $150,000 with no dependents and standard deductions, the federal government takes $36,209 or 24.1%.
That’s over $3,000 every single month at $150,000 a year.
And then we have somehow been conditioned to get excited about a “tax refund.”
A tax refund generally isn’t the government giving you money. It is the government returning money you overpaid throughout the year because too much was withheld from your paycheck.
That’s right, it’s your money they hold…
And then gave back to you months later, generally without paying you a dime for the privilege of using it.
Maybe instead of endlessly asking why it has become so difficult for a family to survive on one income, we should spend a little more time asking how much of that income the government consumes before the family ever gets a chance to spend it.

I’m not done with this "reporter" yet. And I won’t stay silent while the media drags warfighters who bled for this nation and are now trying to make it better.
I’ll be honest, I’m ashamed I didn’t look deeper into the story of @SeanParnellUSA sooner. The GWOT cuts too close to my own scars, so I looked away from the broader history. But not anymore.
Media scrutiny isn’t new. Even George Washington was mocked in print. But the latest attacks on Sean Parnell say far more about the press than they do about him.
So pause and remember where you were on June 10, 2006.
1. The most popular song was Hips Don’t Lie.
2. The top movie was Cars.
3. And Sean Parnell was leading 39 men through a mountain ambush by over 250 enemy fighters. He was wounded three times, and stayed in the fight. By the end of that deployment, 85% of his platoon had been wounded.
Funny how you only get one Purple Heart for taking three hits in one battle, but a thousand paper cuts from the press for doing nothing wrong.
So let me get this straight: guys like him are good enough to fight your wars, bury their friends, and carry the silence of it all for the rest of their lives, but not good enough to help fix the institutions that failed them?
Who better than them?

Now that election fraud is in the spotlight, this video is arguably the most concrete evidence that the Dems use illegals to cheat.
Flashback to 11/04/2016: Then President Obama openly encouraged illegals to vote in the 2016 election, and assured them that ICE and Federal law enforcement will NOT seek them out or deport them if they vote.
Just four days before the 2016 election, Obama told illegals to vote, and that he would not arrest them for it. Plain as day.
This is exactly why we need US MIL/ICE at polling stations in deep blue counties, because we need the illegals to be afraid to vote. We need the exact opposite of what Obama did in 2016. We need the illegals to know that if they try to cheat in our elections, they will be arrested.
Whenever someone on the Left says the Dems don’t cheat in elections, or that illegals don’t vote, show them this video. Obama openly told the illegals they were safe to vote.

Is @LeaderJohnThune stalling the SAVE America Act until the NVRA 90-day ‘quiet period,’ where states are no longer permitted to systematically remove ineligible voters.
The 90 day "quiet period" begins August 5, 2026.
DOMINION had INTERNET and complete REMOTE ACCESS the entire time, and not only lied to you, but gaslit you, and stole the 2020 election right in front of your face.

Anyone who claims the lack of joy about the 250th is a function of a rough economy was not alive in 1976.
The country rocked in its 200th celebration and the economy was a FREAKING MESS.
There is this Gen Z misconception that the '70s and early '80s were some sort of economic golden age of readily available, well-paying jobs, low cost housing and an all around sense of prosperity.
WRONG.

James Madison described the powers of the federal government as “few and defined” and those reserved to the states as “numerous and indefinite.”
We’ve been dangerously drifting from that understanding since the 1930s.
The drift has been most evident in areas now most fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse.
If we honored the Constitution’s limits on federal power, there’d be very little waste, fraud, and abuse in our national government.
