PHILADELPHIA FOP BLASTS REPORTER FOR SHOWING UP AT FALLEN OFFICER SHANE SEIBER’S HOME HOURS AFTER HIS DEATH
The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 has issued a strongly worded statement condemning a reporter who allegedly showed up at the home of fallen Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber and attempted to interview his grieving wife.
According to the FOP, the reporter arrived just hours after Officer Seiber was killed in the line of duty on Saturday, October 10.
The union called the reported encounter “completely unacceptable, disrespectful, and insensitive,” arguing that it crossed the boundaries of professional journalism.
“LEAVE THEM ALONE.”
That was the FOP’s direct message to news organizations as Officer Seiber’s family struggles to process an unimaginable loss.
The union acknowledged that journalists have a responsibility to report the news but emphasized that grieving families deserve privacy, compassion, and respect.
The FOP also vowed to continue protecting the families of fallen officers from harassment and unwanted intrusion.
Officer Seiber, 40, was a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department. He leaves behind his wife and two young children, ages 7 and 3.
The FOP did not identify the reporter or news organization involved in its statement.
The public deserves to know what happened to Officer Seiber. His family also deserves the space to grieve without unwanted intrusion.

BREAKING: ERIC LEWIS, 35, CHARGED WITH MURDER OF PHILADELPHIA POLICE OFFICER SHANE SEIBER; HELD WITHOUT BAIL
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has identified Eric Lewis, 35, as the man accused of fatally shooting Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber and critically wounding his partner early Saturday morning in West Philadelphia.
Lewis is now facing multiple serious criminal charges, including:
• Homicide of a law enforcement officer
• Murder
• Attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer
• Attempted murder
• Disarming a law enforcement officer
• Aggravated assault
• Additional related offenses
Lewis is being held without bail.
The shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on October 10, along the 100 block of North 52nd Street.
Authorities say two officers assigned to the 19th Police District responded to reports of an armed man on a residential porch when they came under heavy gunfire.
Officer Shane Seiber, 40, a 10-year veteran and father of two, was shot three times and later died from his injuries.
His partner, a 33-year-old officer and father of five, was shot 12 times. He remains hospitalized but has been reported in stable condition.
Police say the gunman continued firing as additional officers responded to the scene.
Fellow officers rushed to evacuate their wounded colleagues, placing them into patrol vehicles for emergency transportation to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
A SWAT team later located the suspect hiding in a tree and took him into custody.
District Attorney Krasner said the criminal case identifies 11 victims, including both wounded officers.
Officer Seiber leaves behind his wife, a 7-year-old son, and a 3-year-old daughter.
The investigation and prosecution are ongoing.
Lewis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

For about nine decades, executions in the U.S. have been private affairs, often shrouded in secrecy. The Pentagon’s plan to livestream the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan could change that.

A government-produced death spectacle debases us as a nation.
Turning a person’s last moments into mass entertainment (admit it) coarsens us, cheapens the death itself, as images will be replayed, edited and recirculated.
Also, it becomes a martyrdom spectacle for terrorists.
