The balancing of Magic Items in D&D is… creative to say the least
Most of it makes sense, but then we get:
Periapt of proof against poison: poison + poisoned immunity, NO attunement → rare
Ring of poison resistance: only resistance to poison, attunement → also rare
Wtf
Flight is a 3rd level spell, the broom of flying gives it to you an unlimited amount and is uncommon item.
Fireball is a 3rd level spell, necklace of fireball gives you max 9 casts of it and is rare.
The broom should be at least rare, if not very rare.

Here's another beast I think I never posted on twitter.
It will appear on Steinhardt's guide :)

I’ve had amazing sessions as a GM
I’ve had amazing sessions as a Player.
I’ll choose GM every time, the sheer joy you can reach is just incomparable.
Sometimes I spend more time worrying about content I need to create,
than time it actually takes me to create the content.
Delay in actions is a killer.
As a TTRPG creator the quickest way to make it is Reddit.
I made my first $1000 from there.
That being said, Reddit will also tear you and your content to shreds, and they’re not always wrong.
If you learn though, they will become fierce defenders.
As someone who feels like crap after doom-scrolling on their phone
I find that switching my phone to greyscale is a great way to make it less enticing.
Apps are a lot more boring without color.
Quiet morning with a cup of coffee

Writing out my book
May I be smited if I feel ungrateful for this life

Seems true for both D&D games, and the company that owns said game..
I’m amazed, thank you for listening.
Over the past few weeks you, the community, have made your voices heard. And we’ve listened. OGL 1.0a will remain untouched AND the entire SRD 5.1 is now available under a Creative Commons license.🧵 spr.ly/60113jcGR

According to @Wizards_DnD OGL 1.2 didn't "hit the mark". If only there was some way to have foreseen that?
Some place where 80,000+ people had already told them what they want?

OGL 1.0a, @Wizards_DnD. That's what they wanted. It's not this hard. #OpenDnD
Replying to @DnDBeyond
So far, survey responses have made it clear that this draft of OGL 1.2 hasn't hit the mark for our community. Please continue to share your thoughts.
In a negotiation, the one who wins is the one who has the least to lose.
WotC thought they had nothing to lose, then they lost 40k subs in 2 days, and all of a sudden negotiations were opened.
Fun thing, this OGL is called OGL 1.2 – NOT OGL 1.1
Which, I assume, means there is an OGL 1.1 out there already.
Likely that very same OGL some creators were forced to sign.
But OGL 1.1 was just a draft right…
Alright, so I read correctly.
- They can force a new license whenever they want.
- They can kick you off the license whenever they want.
- They can introduce royalties whenever they want.
Nothing changes.

I reviewed WotC's draft Open Game License 1.2, and was asked to share my thoughts as an intellectual property/gaming lawyer. It's better than OGL 1.1, but still needs work. So-
Let's Take a Minute To Talk About #DnD's Updated Open Game License (OGL 1.2).
medium.com/@MyLawyerFriend/5…
This license seems very deceptive:
- They can revoke your use of the license whenever they please, even for conduct outside the game. You have no legal recourse.
- They can still revoke that license, despite the use of irrevocable, due to the way they define the word.
Starting our playtest with a Creative Commons license and an irrevocable new OGL. spr.ly/60193kZsh
- They can change the portion of the license that pertains to who owns the content whenever they want.
A lot of red flags here.
Same unbearable license, different coat of paint.
