We used skeletally mature (~16-18 weeks of age) primary cells isolated from the patellar tendons of "scar-mediated healer" B6 (top left) and "super-healer"/regenerative MRL/MpJ (top right) mice. We used both 2D and 3D culture platforms to investigate tendon cell behavior (via fluorescence microscopy) in response to different surface topographies and biochemical cues that are associated with homeostasis and healing.
