We are heading into what I have warned will be a serious global economic decline extending into 2028. The danger is that economic instability will increasingly feed geopolitical confrontation as governments seek someone else to blame for their own mismanagement.

🚨 SCOTT BESSENT EFFECTIVELY CONFIRMS A BOND CRISIS, SAYS MARKET TOO ILLIQUID TO CONTROL Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent went on CNBC and said the quiet part out loud: He raised the size of U.S. Treasury buybacks because “we are in a very illiquid period. The market is moving quickly… I can’t set the equilibrium price.” This is the same man who weeks earlier told traders “I am the house now. I have asymmetric information. Bet against me if you want.” Here’s what’s actually happening. He doubled bond buybacks, then pushed toward $6 billion, liquidity-support buybacks of 10- to 30-year bonds. He went on to dump Euros and Dollars to save the yen so BoJ doesn’t dump their U.S. Treasury Holdings. Scott Bessent even warned the Fed to expand the FIMA facility to Japan or watch the treasury market bleed. The 10-year has been grinding toward 5.2%+. The 30-year just printed levels last seen in 2004. Global government bond yields are near 4%, highest since 2007. Japan’s 10-year hit highs not seen since 1996. Germany’s 10-year is at 17-year peaks. This isn’t one country. This is a synchronized long-end revolt. Japan still holds about $1.1 trillion of U.S. Treasuries, the largest foreign holder. Those holdings have been sliding for months as Tokyo’s own debt-to-GDP sits above 220% and JGB yields explode. When the world’s biggest overseas buyer starts preferring its own higher-yielding paper (or just needs the cash), the bid for U.S. duration gets thinner. That’s the illiquidity Bessent is now admitting he cannot paper over with a few billion in buybacks against hundreds of billions in new issuance and $40 trillion+ of existing debt. When the official who called himself “the house” starts saying he cannot set the equilibrium price, the market is telling you something simple: we are in a bond crisis. The most dangerous response from @yutokanzakireal: “Japan isn’t just betting against the house, it’s bringing the entire house down.” We’re now seeing that as a global debt crisis which could catastrophically turn into a global liquidity crisis if not stopped. That’s why gold exists. Not as a trade. As the asset that doesn’t require a Treasury Secretary to promise he can still control the price.

Job creation is one of the more egregious talking points I've seen from the pro-data center camp. "They create thousands of jobs!" That's technically correct. Problem is, those thousands of jobs vanish after construction of the data center is completed. Finished, they employ 20-50 people.

Flock cameras DO violate the 4th Amendment. It has been ruled, repeatedly, that cameras are not police officers. Setting up a surveillance state so that you can say "everything is public" is a godforsaken cuck's take on the 4th Amendment. Cam's a bitch with no integrity.
Flock cameras do not violate the 4th amendment. Looking at things in public view is not a search, nor do you have a right to privacy from it. It’s literally the entire basis for establishing probable cause.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Whether Flock ALPR cameras violate the Fourth Amendment is an active legal debate. While some argue public license plates have no expectation of privacy, the Supreme Court has ruled warrantless digital location tracking can violate the Fourth Amendment. scotusblog.com/2018/06/opinio… cleveland.com/court-justice/…

The only way to ensure that mass surveillance tools like Flock Cameras won’t one day be used by despots to round up political dissidents for execution is for such tools not to exist at all. If you think that’s hyperbolic, you know little of history and even less of human nature.

Commodity prices since the Iran war began: Cocoa +116% Heating Oil +68% Gasoline +58% Rice +41% Cotton +35% Wheat +30% Crude Oil +28% Sugar +27% Coffee +13% Corn +10% Copper +5% This is no longer just an Oil story. The important part is the broadening. Energy moved first. Now food and agricultural commodities are beginning to participate. Energy inflation hurts margins. Food inflation hurts households directly. And once staples such as Rice and Wheat start rising sharply, the problem quickly moves from financial markets into inflation expectations, politics and social stability. Energy shock → production costs → transport costs → food prices The commodity complex is getting much more interesting.
Most people never pay attention to soft commodities. That is a mistake. Gold hurts portfolios. Oil hurts economies. But Rice, Wheat and other food commodities hurt the mass public directly. These are the commodities governments across the world truly fear. Because when food prices explode, it is not just an inflation print. It becomes a political problem. And look at the structure. Rice and Wheat have spent nearly two decades building enormous bases since the 2008 commodity peak. That kind of compression does not last forever. If Crude Oil breaks out decisively, I don't expect soft commodities to remain asleep for long. Energy ↑ Fertilizer ↑ Transport ↑ Farm inputs ↑ Food prices ↑ Brace yourselves. And this is another reason I like having some exposure to productive agricultural land. You are not simply owning land. You are owning the productive capacity behind the commodities governments cannot allow people to live without. Gold protects wealth. Oil powers the system. Agricultural land produces survival.

Why does a new currency come after every collapse? Because governments have to default on their debts. The new government says: we won't honor the debts of the last one. Every country in history has run this same scheme.

Now that the Trump Administration has panicked by announcing a Treasury bailout, investors who hadn't yet realized there was a problem will get the message and start selling. If Bessent thought we had a bond market problem before, sounding the alarm made the problem much worse.

Big News for Firearms Rights: The most significant judicial blow to the NFA’s regulatory scheme since its 1934 enactment. The government has decided not to appeal the recent federal court ruling against the ATF in the Northern District of Texas (Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF (consolidated with Jensen v. ATF). The court held that NFA registration, transfer, and making requirements for suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and any other weapons (AOWs) exceed Congress’s enumerated powers. Basically, the Court reasoned that since the "Big Beautiful Bill" got rid of the $200 tax for NFA items, there was no longer any justification for the NFA regulatory scheme (Forms 1 and 4, NFA registry, ATF approval process, related criminal prohibitions, etc.) The scope of the ruling is narrow, but still important: It permanently bars ATF and DOJ from enforcing the challenged provisions against the plaintiffs, their agencies or political subdivisions, members, and customers (current and future) for these untaxed items. It is not a universal or nationwide injunction. Palmetto State Armory was one of the plaintiffs, and this ruling will cover them and their customers. PSA is going to see an huge surge in business. Machine guns and destructive devices (which still carry the $200 tax) remain fully under the NFA. The court stayed the judgment for seven days to allow the government to seek appellate relief. That window has now passed without an appeal. There is a good chance that this first victory over the NFA will be the beginning of its demise.

Why is fiscal responsibility ONLY ever directed to young working Americans? why don't these types ever tell third worlders they need to learn to figure it out in their own country, or tell Israel to fund it's own wars, or tell welfare leeches to "bootstrap" a little harder?
Amazon has 24-count cases of burritos for $67.97. That's $2.83 a burrito. Just sayin'

We are not heading toward a traditional World War III, but rather a simultaneous eruption of regional tensions that are all interconnected. The model indicates that the conflict in Ukraine, the tensions surrounding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, and the dynamics in the South China Sea are not isolated events; they are manifestations of a single cycle of declining confidence in the established order.
