Yesterday, we hosted an AF cryoablation teaching day.
The session was attended by electrophysiologists Manoj Obeyesekere (MH-alum) & Sandeep Prabhu, along with Emily Kotschet, Stewart Healy & Jeff Alison. Was great to welcome our colleagues from @northernhealth_ & @AlfredHealth

Today the MonashHeart team recorded their case ready to be presented next month at the 14th ANZET (ET = endovascular therapies) meeting. anzet.com.au/
The cases were performed by Monash Heart Drs Adam Brown and James Sapontis, with case presentations by Hash Rashid (pictured above) and John Ramzy.

In a world first, the team at Monash Heart have implanted a 'lead-less' pacemaker the size of a grain of rice, into a patient right here in Melbourne!

A big step forward, it is hoped that these new devices will make it easier to treat patients with heart failure, and may reduce some of the risks associated with pacemakers with wires (like infections), which in turn increase the risk of more complicated procedures.

At MonashHeart, innovation is a priority! And last week was no different! We placed the first implant in our nurse-led trial of the @Medtronic Linq device, a significant advancement in the management of atrial fibrillation. @MonashHealth (1/5)
The aim of the trial is to elucidate the potential benefits of a continuum of care model versus the the current best practice care. The @Medtronic Linq group will have direct access to our AF nurse via a remote monitoring system and thus enable agile decision making. (4/5)
