Top 20 out of 1,400+ startups! 🚀 Huge milestone for @MonakoResearch . Thanks to the Slush team — we're just getting started!
One of Monako Glass's standout features is its bone conduction mic. The "industry standard" name for it is VPU, short for Voice Pickup. Keep this in mind if you ever need to work with accoustic engineers! This week we finalized our mic array design: 1 VPU + 3 accoustic mics. This allows Monako Glass to perform hardware backed speaker diarization!

Just watched General Magic: How a small team of engineers and dreamers laid the foundation for iPod (@tfadell ), Android, iPhone, Apple Watch, and the entire mobile internet age back in the 1990s.
What struck me most is how familiar their ambition feels: defining a next-generation computer, smaller and more personal than anything people had seen before. They got so much right — the vision, the people, the ideas. They were just a decade and a half too early.
Building Monako, I keep thinking about that.
Sometimes the difference between a crazy idea and an inevitable one is simply timing.

All smart rings in the market prioritize battery life over realtime interactivity. We've finally found a supplier that's willing to give us access to the firmware! Now we can stream out all health, accelerometer, and touch sensor data at 10hz. This will enable a new class of ring UX on Monako. Stay tuned!

Shout out to the team! Here's a little sneak peek of our work in progress 🚀
A day in the life of building Monako Glass.
Drove out to Sunny Optical's factory this morning. Most of our days look like this right now — sitting with engineers, going deep on details you'll never notice but will absolutely feel.
Today's detail: what our frame is made of.
We came in set on TR90, a plastic that keeps the glasses light and thin. Weight matters a lot when something sits on your face all day. But Sunny's engineers stopped us.
Everyone's head is a slightly different size. That variation puts constant flex on the front frame every time you put the glasses on. For a plastic like TR90, that stress builds quietly — until one day it cracks.
Their fix: metal (magnesium-aluminum alloy) for the front frame, where the structural load actually lives. So we went hybrid — metal for strength, TR90 for lightness. You shouldn't have to choose between the two.
Slow work. But this is how the product becomes real. #BuildingInPublic #Monako #AllInOrNothing #Startuplife
You are an amazing builder! Really glad to have you on our AMA
Each time @MonakoResearch run an AMA they have amazing surprises to show us ! Great product is coming !!
Here's our update about shipping and refund. If you have any questions, please join our AMA on August 29th!
Because of you, we're here.
2,500 of you backed Monako Glass before we'd shipped a single unit. That trust is why we made a hard call — rebuilding our first product on Qualcomm's AR1 to make the world's smallest Linux spatial computer.
New ship target: Q1 2027, not this summer.
Our 2,500 early backers: your price stays locked at $399.
Not up for the wait? Email your PO number to [email protected] for a full refund, no questions asked.
Batch two stays reservation-based and opens Q2 2026 — the deposit will be higher than $19, and retail will be meaningfully above batch one. Final pricing will be set after EVT.
You're welcome to decide on whether to get a refund after joining our AMA on August 29th! We've been working on the world's first Spatial Computing Linux distro designed for waveguide glasses. Can't wait to show you our work!
