🇮🇪🏑 @officialgaa IRELAND HURLING PANEL ANNOUNCED! Captained by double Kilkenny All-Star Mikey Butler, the 20-man Ireland panel to face Scotland in the Compromised Rules Hurling/Shinty International has been announced ahead of this Saturday’s clash at @OfficialCorkGAA Páirc Uí Chaoimh The panel features several Liam MacCarthy Cup players from Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Tipperary, Galway, Clare and Dublin. Well done to our own Emmett Walsh @clontibretclg and Eithan Flynn @MonHarpsHC who took part in trials over recent weeks. While neither made the final panel, both have been named on the standby list 👏 🇮🇪 A special mention for our own Hurling Manager, Patrick Hannon, who was appointed as a selector on the Ireland management team in August. Patrick is included in an experienced backroom team led by former Tipperary manager and All-Ireland-winning coach Eamon O’Shea. The backroom team also includes: Tommy Dunne – Tipperary All-Ireland-winning captain in 2001 and winning coach in 2019. Conor Hayes – Galway All-Ireland-winning captain in 1987 and 1988, and former Galway manager. John Considine – Cork All-Ireland winner in 1990 and former Cork manager. Seamus “Cheddar” Plunkett – Former Laois player and manager Dating back to 1924, the Ireland–Scotland fixture is a proud annual tradition celebrating the shared hurling and shinty heritage of these two Celtic nations. The Compromised Rules game combines elements of hurling and shinty, with Ireland players unable to handle the ball, setting the stage for a fast-paced, hard-hitting contest between the two nations! 💪 Best of luck to Team Ireland 🇮🇪 Ireland Shinty-Hurling team: Billy Nolan (Waterford), Mikey Butler (Kilkenny), Ian Shanahan (Laois), Sam O'Farrell (Tipperary), Meehaul McGrath (Derry), Ryan Mullaney (Laois), Darragh Neary (Galway), Fiachra C-Fennell (Laois), Diarmuid Stritch (Clare), Aaron Dunphy (Laois), Andrew Ormonde (Tipperary), Cian O'Sullivan (Dublin), Luca McCusker (Fermanagh), Séamus Harnedy (Cork), Pearse Óg McCrickard (Down), Gerard Walsh (Antrim), Joe Murray (Leitrim), Patrick Turner (Derry), Kyle O'Connor (Kerry), Damien Healey (Meath).
