Ed Husic calls out Japan’s hypocrisy of resisting gas export taxes while pocketing $40B in energy import taxes.
“They import it, collect tax revenue, & make money reselling gas they’re not using themselves.”💥
Australia’s resources, Japan’s revenue.
This has to change. #auspol
You may have thought you were voting for @AustralianLabor and then it turns out they’re owned by foreign owned gas corporates.
Our democracy has been hijacked by corporate lobbyists.
The PM and other major party politicians are getting their figures from the gas industry rather than the ATO and Treasury 🤯
Whose side are they on?
When you try and interrogate these figures from the gas lobby you get “PAGE NOT FOUND”.
You cannot make this stuff up!

The only way we win this is if the major parties know they will continue to lose votes at the next election if they don't put Australians first.

Fossil fuel producers should pay for the damage they’re causing, not Australians.

Some really strong stuff by @DavidPocock against Chevron in today's gas tax hearings:
live.thepoint.com.au/2026/04…
Albanese has signalled that he is not taking the call for a tax on gas companies seriously and won't go forward with it despite it being wildly popular amongst Australians from all sides of politics and walks of life. Why? Simple. He cares more about gas companies than you. He doesn't take YOU seriously.

“Just do it, and stop the crap.” 💥🔥
You can see why gas giants are worried. When the guy who wrote the book on Australian tax reform calls for a 25% gas export tax this bluntly, it would be gross negligence for the government to ignore it.
Thank you, Ken Henry. #auspol

Giving away Australian gas for free is ridiculous.
Once it’s exported it’s lost from our national wealth forever. It’s simply not acceptable to the Australian community.

The Japanese government gets more tax from Australian gas exports than the Australian government does!
The Australian people are getting ripped off. We need a 25% tax on gas exports.

David Pocock shreds the idea that gas giants choosing to invest in pipes should mean they avoid tax
"No other sector in our economy gets the raw material for free"🔥
Tax breaks for big corps who get our resources for $0 doesn’t make us the lucky country—but the stupid country.🙄

Appalled but not surprised to see govt caving to the gas companies.
This just makes me more determined to go harder on our campaign to get a fair return on our gas through a 25% tax on gas export revenue.
