🚨 BREAKING: Wayne Rooney has brutally SLAMMED Arsenal despite their 2-1 victory over Leeds United. 🗣️ Wayne Rooney on Arsenal vs Leeds United: “Honestly, I don’t care about the result. Arsenal won the game, but let’s talk about the football because that was embarrassing to watch. For a team that wants to be called title contenders, they played like a Championship side for large periods of that match. You look at the players Arsenal have, the money they’ve spent, the quality in that squad, and then you watch them struggle to play decent football against Leeds United. What exactly are we watching here? Leeds were competing with them, making life difficult for them, and Arsenal looked like a team that had completely forgotten how to control a football match. And the most frustrating part? Arsenal needed Leeds to score before they started looking like a team that actually wanted to play football! Why does it take a wake-up call for Arsenal to show some urgency? Why can’t they start a game with the same intensity they show when things begin to go wrong? You cannot spend all week talking about being title contenders, comparing yourself to the best teams in Europe, and then turn up playing football that makes people question whether you belong in that conversation. Let’s be honest here. If you removed the Arsenal badge from those shirts and showed somebody that performance without telling them which team it was, I don’t think everyone would immediately identify them as one of the biggest clubs in England. Arsenal want the respect that comes with being an elite team, but elite teams don’t spend so much time making ordinary football look complicated. Their fans will tell you they won 2-1. Fine, congratulations. Three points in the bag. But are we seriously going to pretend that winning automatically means you’ve played well? Leeds will be disappointed they didn’t get more from the game, because there were periods when Arsenal looked anything but convincing. Arsenal have quality. Nobody is disputing that. But quality on paper means absolutely nothing if you cannot impose yourself on the pitch. If you’re telling me this is a team that wants to win the Premier League, then I expect much more than what I saw today. They can celebrate the three points. They should. But let’s not confuse a victory with a convincing performance. Those are two completely different things.”
