Teaser for the one thing I care about here—better news discussions here on X. Full 7-minute video in the comment.
"Where are they now?" metrosexual edition.
The label "metrosexual" largely disappeared because the behaviors it described—like using skincare, getting manicures, and caring about fashion—became completely normalized for men rather than a novelty.

"No" public executions. "Yes" to show trials.

Stumbling on this kind of stuff in my feed, stirs the old wish: what if we had the culture and simple technology for "best summary", "best normie explanation", "best technical explanation", and so on.
And then jump from best to best in understanding. Oh, the dreams.
Truly remarkable how the same storylines play over and over.
Tony Crosland, of The Future of Socialism fame, Labour Sec of Education, convinced his step-daughter to switch from a private to a non-selective state school.
Headmistress: "you're using Sheila as a political pawn"
As usual, the teaching quality went downhill.
"Forget the school, it's the teaching that counts".

The growing "Zionism is racism" trend may prove Stalin being a true visionary.
The coat of arm is solid. The flag is an absolute delight. All that is lacking is the population.
When a storm fells a tree, for the first time the roots get exposed to sunlight and the brunches touch the ground. The ostensibly fallen USAID hasn't left a trail of stories about former employees forced to touch grass. Was the private sector in such a dire need of experts in transgender Przewalski's horses, to seamlessly absorb them all? What were the money and information flows that culminated in "Rock against misinformation"?
There was a flash of So Much Money Saved reports, and then all went quiet. Which is, probably, how it should be. "Forget it Jake. It's Chinatown."
The 60s and 70s were given to us to prevent peering deeper into the past. In 1816, Ivan Krylov, a Russian fable writer, imagined the fates awaiting a Robber and a Free Thinker (presumably Voltaire) in Hell.
Unlike ther Robber's, the fire under the Author grew hotter and hotter.
**The Author and the Robber**
*Ivan Krylov*
(tranlated by @grok )
In Hell’s dark halls, where only shadows stay,
Two sinners came to judgment on one day.
The first a robber was, who worked the road
And ended on the gallows for that load.
The second, famous everywhere, a writer
Whose books poured poison, quiet, slow, and brighter.
He planted unbelief and rooted vice,
Sweet-voiced as any Siren—and as nice
To hear, and just as fatal. Hell is swift:
No long delays, no legal drift.
The sentence fell at once. From iron chains
Two great cast cauldrons hung above the plains.
They set the guilty in those pots of iron.
Beneath the robber rose a roaring pyre;
Megaera lit it. Such a flame she raised
The very stone of Hell’s high vaults was crazed.
The writer’s lot looked lighter at the start:
A little fire smouldered under his heart.
But as it burned it grew, and would not tire.
Ages went by; it only climbed the higher.
The robber’s fire had long since died away;
The writer’s worsened with each passing day.
No ease in sight, he cried out in his pain
That gods were unjust, deaf to just complaint:
He’d filled the world with glory by his art;
If he had written freely, for his part
The punishment was far too sharp and long.
He was no worse, he swore, than that first wrong.
Then, snakes among her hair, a scourge in hand,
One Fury of the three took up her stand.
“Wretch! Will you blame Providence?” she said.
“Will you rank this thief equal with the dead
Who wrote as you have written? His offence
Is nothing next to yours. His violence
Could harm the world only while he drew breath.
Your bones are dust—and still, after your death,
No sunrise comes that does not show some ill
Your pages first made possible, and will.
The poison in your books does not grow weak;
It spreads, and turns more savage week by week.
Look!”—and she opened earth before his eyes—
“See all the crimes and all the miseries
Of which you are the cause. Those children there
Who shame their homes and drive their parents to despair:
Who poisoned mind and heart? Your words alone.
Who mocked as childish dreams the marriage throne,
The law, the magistrate, and laid the blame
For every human grief upon their name,
And tried to tear society’s bonds apart?
You did. Who called unbelief a higher art—
‘Enlightenment’? Who dressed both lust and vice
In colors fair enough to look like price
Worth paying? Look: a country, drunk on you,
Is full of murder, theft, and riot too,
Of faction and revolt, and by your hand
Is led toward ruin. Every tear that land
Has shed, each drop of blood, is charged to you.
And you dare raise your blasphemy anew
Against the gods? How many evils still
Will rise from books you cannot now unsay?
Suffer. The measure here is what you made.”
So spoke Megaera in her wrath, and then
She slammed the iron cover down again.
The "crazy bullshit" afflicts all universities, top to bottom, from Alaska to Florida, Australia to Estonia (if they have any).
It's not crazy every which way. Therefore there is a law of nature that directs them all together.
Yelling "gravity has to stop" won't do it.

John Solomon is a perfect limited hangout.
First sentence: the Army created airborne Ebola and exposed monkeys to it; Fauci says should never have done it.
Second sentence: he tried to shut down the economy.
Works well for the target audience. Never leaves the RW reservation.
People debating AI are aware that the concept of the best explanation exists. It can be applied to the valuable case of the Slutcon. OTOH, one can't identify what's considered the best explanation of any side of the AI debate.
Priorities.
I came across a very similar statement, with a slightly different third point, by a good writer. It's interesting that the reactions are nor very sympathetic.

@elonmusk you may not look in the direction I point, but you listened to him once (at least). This is half-way to the right solution. We need an alternative to debates.
The alternative:

The tool to fix it all is a poll. The poll solicits sources. You ask questions like these:
- Which sources provide the best analysis of the possible origins of COVID-19?
- Which sources give the best explanation of the latest decision of the Supreme Court?
- Which sources provide the most reasonable predictions for the state of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict at the end of 2024?
- Which sources provide the best explanations of how humor works?
- Which sources provide the best advice on how to get to the point faster?
As a one-yes-or-no-question international comparison math test, this one is seems quite good.
An object up in a tree at 2/3 of the tree's height. Is it true that the height of the tree is 1/3 more than the height of the object.
Not to dunk on the people and the cause involved (quite the opposite), but together with all the education talk, this clip came to mind.
I love that they expect the audience to get the joke with fractions and % so quickly.
I shudder at the mere thought of how an American comedy show would be overexplaining the math involved.
One more thing: JUST 42.86% MORE.

Twitter is reactionary in the saddest way possible. Wait for the MSM to frame an issue, and then complain about the MSM. Year after year.
Never ask why all the based billionaires and all the available "talent" can't create one (1) news source without glaring agenda.
What is the Associated Press trying to incite here? The whole reason this story is national news is a conspiracy theory that any death of a black person by hanging was a secret lynching by invisible white supremacists.
In nearly every case, it is a suicide. This one is a murder. However, like nearly all murders of black victims, the perpetrators in this case are black men.
The Associated Press has decided to report on this while being vague about the key, salient fact that there is no racial angle to this murder because both the killer and victim are black.
This kind of reporting allows misinformation and conspiracies to flourish, which the Associated Press is fine with, because misinformation about racist murders benefits Democrats in the upcoming election.
When Republicans say the media are biased or even that elections are being stolen, those claims have credibility. Look at the way ostensibly credible media organizations are behaving.
