🖥️ @annespalter ’s digital work carries a painter’s eye into technological landscapes. Places that feel both familiar and slightly impossible. She once described working with digital video as feeling more like painting than working with oils, with composition and colour remaining central.
From her digital work in the early 1990s to later experiments with AI, her fascination with the modern landscape has remained a connecting thread. Across her practice, highways and technological structures sit alongside science fiction imagery, surreal desert forms, and mythic animals: worlds where nature and technology seem to merge.
It’s digital art that still thinks in the language of landscape painting, just with more portals.

early coverage in the Hong Kong press about the upcoming showing of Rutherford Chang's We Buy White Albums piece
I can't believe they ship these 2+ tons of records around the world, but they've been now all around the US, Europe, China, Japan and now Hong Kong
This one coming up is an exhibition called GOLD focusing on music and records at Serakai Studio's space in the heart of Hong Kong's Wong Chuk Hang art district.
Meanwhile Rutherford's body of work has recently arrived at the offices of art advisory team Schwartzman& where it's being prepared for premium presentation to galleries, museums and collectors.
Chang's art has been named in the canon of systems art by Art in America, and has been presented at the New Museum NYC, UCCA Beijing, Akademie der Künste Berlin, among others, will be claiming its place in both contemporary discourse and in history.

It is done.
I finished her late last night.
The last stroke felt so quiet. No fanfare or celestial bells. Just silence and a bit of emptiness. Like all the water had been poured from the cup.
But when I woke the morning. She stood glorious in the sunlight. And I feel I have done something good. It is beautiful. And sad. Because our days together are numbered now. I will start to begin the process of letting her go.
There is no beauty without loss. But we do it anyway. Because what else is there?
