It takes a community to build a community! Recently, team members from Mobile Loaves & Fishes, @wellsfargo and @icon3dtech came together to help turn 3D-printed houses into homes at our Community First! Village Burleson property. These homes will one day welcome our formerly homeless neighbors as they begin a new chapter rooted in community, connection and belonging. We’re grateful for partners who share in our vision and show what it looks like to love our neighbors through a lifestyle of service!

It was such a joyful occasion joining together on Monday as we celebrated the opening of our new Neighbor Services Building in Community First! Village — named in honor of Glimmer Austin! We are so grateful for our longtime partner and friends at Glimmer Austin for their continued commitment and support as we serve our city's most vulnerable neighbors. With on-site partners from organizations across Austin, our Neighbor Services Building is designed to provide a welcoming gathering place where Community First! Village neighbors can connect, build relationships and access valuable services that assist in their restorative journeys. Thank you, Glimmer Austin, for helping to strengthen our community and create more opportunities for our neighbors to thrive!

On this episode of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, Alan sits down with our neighbor and friend, John, also known around the Village as Mighty Mouse! From working carnival rides across Texas and beyond to earning his unforgettable nickname, John has lived a life full of adventure, stories and resilience. John spent 26 years experiencing homelessness in Austin, including a number of years camping under a bridge and building community with other individuals who were living on the streets. Along the way, John says he found purpose in serving others, volunteering with a local street ministry and eventually beginning his work at The Charlie Center, where he continues to pour into the lives of others who are experiencing homelessness today. In 2023, after more than two decades on the streets, John moved into Community First! Village. While adjusting to living in his new home took some time, he's grateful for the journey, the people who helped him along the way, and also how having a place to call home has changed his outlook on life. Listen to John’s full story, “From the Streets to a Life of Service, with My Neighbor John” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or at mlf.org/gospel-con-carne-pod…!

We are excited to share an update on Mobile Loaves & Fishes' leadership. Our Chief Operating Officer, Tim Allen, has officially transitioned into his new role as President of Mobile Loaves & Fishes. Tim came to MLF with more than three decades of marketplace and nonprofit leadership experience. Originally hailing from the west coast, Tim has been a passionate fan of MLF and its mission since relocating to Austin in 2019. Prior to joining MLF, Tim served as the managing partner of a strategic advisory firm and continues to serve on several nonprofit boards. He earned a BS in Supply Chain & Technology Management from the University of Nevada-Reno, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Tim and his wife Jennifer have two grown children, Benjamin and Audrey. "Over the past year, we have had the joy and honor to see Tim first serve as Mobile Loaves & Fishes' CFO, and most recently as our COO, and are thrilled to see the many ways he will continue to lead our staff and care for our community through his newest executive role with us," said Alan Graham, Founder & CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes. "Our entire team is deeply grateful for his leadership and we're looking forward to the continued journey with him as we serve our brothers and sisters in need. Please join us in welcoming Tim, and also praying for him, as Mobile Loaves & Fishes' new president!"

On this episode of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, Alan sits down with our neighbor and friend, Nancy! Born in Germany and raised in North Austin, Nancy has lived a life full of adventure. From working behind the scenes at the legendary Armadillo World Headquarters to running her own businesses, Nancy spent much of her life working hard and raising her two sons. After experiencing deep loss, Nancy eventually found herself living on the streets of Austin. During her time living under a bridge, she became an advocate for others experiencing homelessness, helping people find food, getting to appointments and looking out for one another. Everything began to change when Nancy found her way to Community First! Village in 2023. Today, she has found a place to call home and spends her time connecting with neighbors, singing, creating art and bringing joy to those around her. In this episode, Nancy reminds us that there is always room for joy, purpose and a new beginning—and shares the role her faith has played in her journey home.
