This week a council approved a solar farm on two hundred and thirty-five acres of grazing, and the family who had run cattle on it for generations said it would probably finish them. The panels will be there for forty years. The cattle were there for four hundred.
The land is not the developer's. It belongs to an estate or a pension fund, and the developer offers a rent per acre no cow has ever earned. The farmer gets a letter. The council, told to triple solar by a minister who has never kept a beast, finds that the loss of a herd is not a planning consideration.
So the field goes under glass. In Britain a solar array produces for about one hour in nine. It makes most in June at noon, when the country needs it least, and nothing on a January evening, when it needs it most, so a gas station is kept idling behind every one. The panels are made in China from polysilicon out of a province the government will not name. They lose output every year they stand there, and at the end there is no plan and no bond for taking them away. A quarter of a million square metres of glass, aluminium and copper cable, in a field, with a thirty-year lease and a company that will not exist when it ends.
Under the panels the grass dies for want of light, the soil compacts under the plant, and the hedges go because the fence has to be electric and the fence has to be straight. The sheep in the brochure are for the photograph.
The cattle were a solar panel already. Grass takes the light, the cow converts it, and the output is beef, every day of the year, on no cable, no subsidy and no inverter, for as long as there is rain.
They have replaced a power station that makes dinner with one that works on a sunny afternoon and sits dead the rest of the time, and the family who ran the first one are being evicted to make room for the second.

What’s going on in Upstate NY? What is @GovKathyHochul and her socialistic board “ORES” doing to landowners? I explain here👇👇

This was one of the most American things I've ever seen. A big group of farmers, Amish, coming together in a barn in one of the original 13 Colonies to push back against a tyrannical @GovKathyHochul and her socialistic ORES department...It felt like 1775🇺🇸 @alex_fasulo is a hero.
Yesterday felt surreal in a lot of ways.
Every single incredible person I have come to know and learn from over the last 12 months was in my barn. And they were there for a press conference with @johnrich, right in Schuylerville, NY, where he decided once and for all that it’s time to put an end to the unconstitutional Office of Renewable Energy Siting.
I asked people I have come to call friends from around the state to share their stories on the panel.
The room got to hear from Barbie Starowitz, Meghan M Manion, Jamie Deines, Anita Dungey, and Claude Pietrowicz.
I will never forget it. I looked up at one point into a sea of 100 people I love dearly, with tears shed and misty eyes staring back at me.
This isn’t a partisan fight. This is a fight to protect our home rule, our land, and the nature of our state.
ORES is now nationally famous… and not in a good way.

🚨 BREAKING: Trump Landowner Envoy John Rich just went to New York and exposed that Gov. Kathy Hochul is trying to OVERRIDE Christians and farmers and moving to destroy the land around them for Green New Scam projects
WTF? Stand down, Hochul!
"Governor Kathy Hochul has created a bureaucratic board called ORES, the Office of Renewable Energy Siting...an entity that can override what's known as home rule."
"I met with bishops at a Russian Orthodox Church that are now in danger of being surrounded by projects permitted by ORES and Kathy Hochul."
"I met in a big barn, packed full of farmers. All of them have pushed against what's going on, but they have no voice. Kathy Hochul has taken their voice away from them."
In other words, a town board can say no and the state can approve it anyway
Trump appointed Rich in July specifically to fight for landowners getting steamrolled — now, by big solar and wind
Leave their land alone!

🚨 A family opened their back door to let their dog out... and a cop they didn't know was there KILLED her in five seconds.
Then he pointed his gun at her OWNER.
Her name was Tesla. A 3-year-old black Lab from Rochester, New York.
October 19th, 2018. Police were chasing two suspects through backyards.
They already had them in CUFFS. It was OVER.
But Officer Javier Algarin hopped the Dempsey family's fence AGAIN.
No warrant. No knock. Nobody inside even knew he was there.
Three seconds later, Charles Dempsey opened the back door.
Tesla ran off her OWN porch into her OWN backyard.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Hey!"
BANG. BANG.
Five seconds. She was DEAD.
Then he turned the gun on Charles.
"LEAVE MY PROPERTY!" Charles screamed.
"Get back!" the officer yelled.
Years later, under oath:
Could this have been avoided if you'd just knocked and asked permission?
His answer: "Yes."
The family fought for seven years.
A federal jury found him PERSONALLY liable. $125,000.
Rochester's training? "DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE."
At least 6 dogs killed by that department from 2017 to 2019.
And that officer?
He's STILL on the job.
In 5 days it'll be EIGHT YEARS since Tesla died in her own yard.
HOW IS HE STILL WEARING A BADGE?!!!!!!

Please prepare yourself... I've cried a few times just writing this post.
Sadly, a Golden Retriever dog has been found DE@D UNDERWATER with CINDER BLOCKS tied to its legs using the dog's OWN LEASH...
Yes, someone tied a dog to concrete with its own leash, zip-tied it down, and sank it in the water.
On Tuesday morning, October 13th, Ryan Young was coming back into the marina near Miami and he saw two little arms sticking up out of the water.
Then he realized they were PAWS, he thought someone’s dog had fallen off a boat.
Then he saw the rope and TWO cinder blocks.
Young believes the dog fought to survive. He says its back legs looked torn and broken from the struggle.
Marina staff pulled him out about 20 minutes later.
Exactly ZERO arrests have been made for what happened to this dog.
Zero charges.
No answers on how he passed away, or how long he was down there.
But someone walked this dog on that leash... then used it to do THIS.
This is one of the most evil acts I've ever even HEARD of being committed.
This person needs to go to prison for life.
How the HELL can you do this to a GOLDEN RETRIEVER?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey @GovKathyHochul… none of the “Upstate wineries” have told you they have a problem with tariffs.
You know what they have a problem with?
The massive wind farms you’re allowing ORES to site in the MIDDLE of the Finger Lakes wine region. One woman from the Finger Lakes CRIED at an ORES hearing last week at what’s happening to their wine region.

Let me correct @GovKathyHochul: New Yorkers can’t afford their utility bills because she took nuclear offline to create a “crisis” that she pitches solar/wind as a fix to.
Since solar and wind can’t stand on its own in an open market in New York State, we’re paying to subsidize the money laundering through ORES.
The delivery charges on your electric bills are used to fund these solar and wind companies in the form of RECs.

The main landowner at Flat Creek Solar has sued Pattern Energy Group over failure to pay out the lease.
The next time a solar company promises you life-changing money with a predatory contract, consider the fact you may end up suing that company when it’s inevitability acquired two to three times before the complex is built.
If Flat Creek Solar had been built, some of our NY green energy subsidies and credits ($500 million for its total NYSERDA contract) would have been paid into the Canadian Pension Fund.
This is a land grab.
And Flat Creek Solar is DEAD!

I'll be putting my boots on the ground up there next week. We're going to make this a national story, as it should be. @alex_fasulo
Why does everyone else out in rural-residential or zoned agricultural areas have to following local zoning, but foreign solar and wind companies can depart from that zoning for industrial buildouts?
This is the "take" that's going on across New York State, where patchworks of 20+ parcels are allowed to break zoning everyone else in the area has to follow.
It's why property values plummet if you live near one of these ecological detention zones.
Last week at the NYS Senate Energy ORES Roundtable, residents from around the state talked about how no one can sell their homes if they end up near an ORES complex.
Would you buy a property and look at this view out your back window? People are in rural areas for peace/quite, viewsheds, history, ability to grow their own food, and the predictability that comes with rural zoning.
You're allowed to do what you want with your property in this country... to an extent. Zoning exists to create uniformity and predictability in a region. It guarantees a certain property value for those around you. It's why you can't decide tomorrow to build a Walmart in your backyard (Mind you, Walmarts are about 20 acres, total, in size. These complexes are 1,000+ acres.).
If these complexes were being built in zoned commercial/industrial areas, between highways, and over parking lots, you wouldn't hear the outcries that are pouring from rural New York towns statewide.
Hard-working New Yorkers who have invested in their properties, land, habitats, views, and culture are being financially destroyed by bureaucrats in Albany who have never, in their lives, set foot in our rural villages. That's the problem here.

This is not even real… the State of New York sent a bill for $118,000 to three little Amish schools, one room schoolhouses out in Clymer, Heuvelton, and the Canajoharie settlement that do not take a single dollar of public money, because 59 of their children are not vaccinated.
And that is just one day. By the state's own position in the Second Circuit case, every day an unvaccinated child walks into that schoolhouse is a fresh violation and a fresh $2,000 fine, per child. Dygert Road got billed $52,000 for 26 kids, Pleasant View $46,000 for 23, and Shady Lane $20,000 for 10. Run that out over a 180 day school year and you are looking at roughly $21 million owed by families who already said they cannot pay the first bill… and their own attorney, Aaron Siri, told the New York Post the only way they pay is if the state takes their land.
Think about how we got here. These families had a religious exemption for decades. In June 2019 Albany repealed it, Andrew Cuomo signed it, and Kathy Hochul has left it sitting right there in force the entire time she has been governor. The fines came down in December 2022, the Second Circuit ruled against the families on June 30 of this year, and now Joseph Miller, Jonas Smucker, and Ezra Wengerd are asking the Supreme Court to let them live by the faith they have lived by their whole lives.
Meanwhile these are the same people who spent years screaming my body, my choice… and yet when a quiet Amish father says he wants to decide what goes into his own child's body, Albany sends the collection notice. Where did that crowd go? Lara is right that money is the weapon here, because they cannot drag the Amish into court in handcuffs for praying, so they fine them until they sell the farm or leave the state, and some of those families are already talking about leaving.
Ask yourself honestly… if they can do this to people who keep to themselves, farm their land, run their own schools, and ask nothing from the government, what exactly do you think they will do to you?
I read those numbers and I had to read them twice. Informed consent is supposed to mean something, and religious liberty is the very first freedom in the Bill of Rights, not a favor the governor hands out when it suits her.
Kathy, your sign says "Keeping New Yorkers Safe"… drop the fines, give these families their exemption back, and leave the Amish alone.
But God.
It is outrageous that the state of NY is punishing the Amish community because their children are unvaccinated. They are using money as a weapon, trying to fine these communities into compliance. This is a blatant violation of the legal principle of “informed consent” which guarantees individuals the right to make informed decisions about medical interventions, particularly vaccines, without coercion or misinformation. Without this protection, you can be forced into anything by those in power, just like the Nazis did in WWII.

This is HUGE!
The Administrative Law Judges overseeing Shepherd's Run Solar in Copake, New York, submitted an adjudicatory hearing report and recommended decision last night in the ORES docket.
They recommend "the denial of the siting permit based upon Hecate's failure to demonstrate compliance with applicable wetlands laws and regulations."
This has never happened before in the history of ORES (Office of Renewable Energy Siting).
The ORES Executive Director, Jason Zehr, can technically override this recommendation.
I sat in on this adjudicatory hearing a few weeks ago. It was one of the most shocking things I've ever publicly witnessed. The developer, Hecate, was caught lying so many times I lost count.
The other 49 towns and villages being forced to host ORES solar and wind complexes know this is a usual story for every one of these solar conglomerates.
But to see it unfold, right in person, was a new development in the bureaucratic process.
And that process is starting to unravel - and quickly. This is monumental.
The people of Copake have been fighting this solar complex off for almost a decade. They deserve to be set free from Shepherd's Run Solar.

At 7 PM Sunday, after sunset, New York's demand peaked at 16.5 GW. Solar covered none of it. Hydro carried 22% of that hour.
Part of New York's hydro was built for exactly that hour. In Schoharie County, NYPA's Blenheim-Gilboa plant moves water between two reservoirs. One is Schoharie Creek below. The other is a 399-acre lake on top of Brown Mountain, about 1,100 feet higher and held in by a 2.25-mile earthen dike. At night, when power is cheap, four pump-turbines push water uphill. When demand peaks, the same machines turn around and let it fall back down.
Construction started in 1969, and it reached full power in December 1973. Upgrades took it from 1,000 MW to 1,160 MW, which is about the size of a large nuclear reactor. A full upper reservoir holds roughly 12 hours of full output. That's more stored energy than any lithium battery New York has, built half a century before anyone was arguing about batteries.
Here's what most people don't know: it mostly sits waiting. In 2024, Gilboa generated 354,605 MWh. Spread across the year, that equals running at full power for about 50 minutes a day. Over the last decade it has averaged about the same. The upper reservoir usually moves only 10 to 20 feet a week. Its busiest month in 2024 was July, its quietest February.
That's by design. Gilboa's main job is to be ready. It's held in reserve to cover a sudden plant outage within minutes, and it's one of the plants that can restart the grid after a blackout, with no outside power needed. Storage also comes at a price. To produce that 354,605 MWh, Gilboa pumped with 525,828 MWh. A third of the energy is lost on the round trip.
There was supposed to be a second one. In the same years, Con Ed planned a similar plant at Storm King Mountain on the Hudson. That fight lasted 17 years and ended in 1980 with nothing built. Gilboa got built quietly, and it's still the largest storage plant in New York.

A baby elephant named Ellie was discovered alone in the wild in South Africa, having been rejected by his herd due to a severe umbilical abscess and hernia.
Ellie remained lethargic and deeply depressed, showing no will to live. Recognizing that elephants are intensely social creatures, the team introduced him to Duma, a retired service and sniffer dog residing at the sanctuary.
The effect was instantaneous. As soon as they met at the sand pile, Ellie’s demeanor shifted from despair to curiosity. The two became inseparable, with Duma’s playful energy teaching Ellie how to be a joyful calf again. She finally had a chance to heal and enjoy life.
