Some artists here with 20k+ followers and $100k plus in sales will post about how artists who want to make a living with their art should just do what they feel like doing, that the quality of your art alone is enough to make it, that you should let the art speak for itself etc... While they are doing the EXACT OPPOSITE. Some of these artists are spending 10 hours per day grinding on twitter barely getting enough sleep, to make contacts with collectors, galleries, marketplaces, to get their art seen, they carefully time and word their tweets, they carefully plan their mints, some have 20+ private group chats running, some have alt accounts to boost their own posts (yeah you read this right), some host spaces to increase engagement, some join private collector discords, they sometimes even have full time agents running the show for them. And they find this tiring and stressful and they mostly don't like it. But they still do it. Because it's part of the game. This is what really bothers me: they don't tell you this is a huge part of the process. But I will. Sure, if you were early enough or once you've become big enough, all this becomes pointless and your art and name are enough to self sustain theirselves. But if you are a "small" artist who actually wants to make it, I'm not sure listening to their advice and just doing whatever makes you feel good is the right way to go about it.
