You know why this picture is so freaking liberating? For 12 years we were handcuffed into believing that making fun of Modi is a sin. You never knew what would happen to you: abuses, threats and whatnot. Today it is the most popular thing to do, still not on the level Manmohan Singh was mocked, but we will get there soon. This is independence of speech once again, of criticism and freedom from the idea that an individual politician is god-sent on earth to bless us. This guy Pulkit is a hero, so ignore the cries of Sanghis and keep being unapologetic. Only people like us know how much it has taken to bring that megalomaniac down to size.

The PM needs to get involved in the race to save humanity by protecting Millet Biriyani, Paneer Haleem and Kerala Veg Stew and make sure it doesn’t fall into the hands of bad actors!
I resigned from the Prime Minister’s catering company today. I spent the last three years creating menus for international dignitaries. The company is not acting responsibly. They are racing straight to Lauki- Millet Biryani and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below. 🧵

"I did not slap him, his cheek came in the way of my hand!"
The Gurgaon biker case has reached a slightly absurd stage. Kalyan Bainsla appears to be available for interviews explaining his side of the story to half the Indian media. At the same time, reports say three police teams are looking for him. I have a fairly basic question: Why don't the Gurgaon Police just ask the TV channels for his address?

#Important: Here is our agenda. This September, the Cockroach Janta Party begins its ‘Kya Bolti Public’ listening tour. We are taking this movement to the grassroots to listen. We want to hear the aspirations, anxieties, and ideas of India’s young generation and the together work towards building a brighter future. Education reform and unemployment remain at the very top of our priorities. We will also relentlessly push for institutional accountability because a democracy cannot function when institutions stop being accountable for their (in)actions. A big question mark surrounds the integrity of the Election Commission, the judiciary, and the media. The three’s accountability MUST be restored. We also seek to bring together the countless movements, organisations, and citizens already fighting for justice on different fronts. No single organisation can transform a nation alone. Our greatest strength lies in unity. Every person who cares about India’s future is already a leader. If you believe in democracy, accountability, constitutional values, and a better future for the youth, come build this movement with us. Join us: cockroachjantaparty.org/join Many of you have asked us to become a political party. We are deeply grateful for that faith. But at this moment, our energy is better spent where change truly begins: among the people! Existing parties are being broken up using money, ED, CBI, etc. Those in government are also now deciding who can vote and who can’t. They are choosing which elected MP will be in which party. So our immediate mission is grassroots mobilisation, democratic reforms, and mass public awakening. For now, we remain a people’s pressure group. And we are only getting started. #KyaBoltiPublic #CockroachesUnite @Cockroachisback @abhijeet_dipke @AshutoshRanka @whattalawyer @Vaishnavii_gaur

It just goes to show that the government and godi anchors simply do not understand the language of Gen Z and younger generations. We can sit on the road for as long as it takes. We can protest while dancing. We can organise while sipping cold coffee. We can fight for change without looking the way previous generations think a movement should look (no shade on anyone!) That’s just how this generation is. Confident, creative, resilient, and IMPOSSIBLE to stereotype. The uncles and aunties can keep complaining. They’ll just have to deal with us!✊🏻
Again, Noida channel anchors, the IT cell and their affiliates seem convinced they can discredit Gen Z by circulating videos of student leaders partying after Pradhan’s resignation. But to many young people, grabbing a cold coffee, partying or unwinding isn’t a moral failing. A generation that can wear a lathi charge as a badge of honour also doesn’t believe activism requires perennial performative misery. They can protest fiercely, laugh loudly and celebrate victories- all at the same time. That isn’t hypocrisy. It’s their worldview. Just not a Victorian one like that of Noida anchors.

The mainstream ignored the people. The people made alternative media the mainstream. Now Alternative media is no longer alternative. It's the Mainstream.

I’ve worked on Iran for nearly 20 years. Our options are never great, but I’ve never seen things this bad. For the first time in my career, I’m at a loss. When this war began, I warned that Iran would likely emerge weakened but more aggressive and risk-tolerant—leaving the region trapped in a cycle of military clashes and chronic instability. That has happened. What I underestimated was the leverage Iran would gain through its stranglehold over the Strait of Hormuz. For a moment, the MOU offered a possible way out. It was deeply flawed, but better than the alternatives. Then vague terms and shoddy negotiating caused it to collapse: Iran believed it could retain some control over the Strait; Washington believed the Strait would reopen to international shipping. But the fundamental problem wasn’t the negotiation. It was Trump’s catastrophic decision to go to war in the first place. The result: higher oil prices, economic shocks, depleted US missile-defense stocks, immense regional damage and civilian suffering, alienated allies and very little achieved in return. So what now? We could pay Iran off through sanctions relief, oil exports and access to the international banking system. But after surviving forty days of war, Tehran is angry, distrustful and convinced it holds the stronger hand. Its price is so high – and so humiliating – that Trump will never accept it. We could escalate militarily, which is what the US is doing. But bombing has not produced meaningful Iranian concessions, and Trump appears unwilling to bear the costs of the maximalist alternatives. More pressure means an expensive, dangerous and potentially endless war, with serious risks to US forces and the entire region as we tragically saw this weekend. And it has little chance of success. Or we could encourage the Gulf states to negotiate a regional arrangement. That may ultimately be the most promising path, but the Gulf states are divided, this remains fundamentally a US-Iran conflict, and any agreement will require major American concessions while leaving Iran strategically stronger than it was before the war. So this isn’t very appealing and hard to get to as well. The likeliest outcome is therefore that we are looking at a new normal: recurring US-Iran clashes, periodic American or Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear program, Iranian control over the SOH, higher oil prices and a larger, longer-lasting American military presence in the Middle East. But since the costs of all out escalation are too high both sides try to keep it from going there, though there is always a risk. Iran’s leverage will eventually depreciate as countries build pipelines, diversify energy supplies and establish alternative trade routes. But that could take years. Eventually, exhaustion may produce a deal. Iran may decide that controlling the Strait while living under blockade is unsustainable. Washington may accept that it must offer more. The Gulf states may finally unite around a workable diplomatic framework. But not soon. Trump took a situation in which better options plainly existed, started an unnecessary war and produced a strategic disaster that will take years to unwind. For now, we are all stuck with this mess.

We should be debating one measurable number every day: How many new jobs were created today, this month, and this year? Jobs can be counted, verified, and held accountable. A “$30 trillion GDP by 2047” is a projection-not a measurable outcome today. It can’t be verified or audited in the present. It’s a spreadsheet forecast, not a performance metric. Focus on what can be measured, not what can only be imagined. IMHO.

For a moment let us set aside the fact that changing the name of the AIFF to the Football Federation of Bharat or adding Vande Mataram in addition to the National Anthem before matches is not going to make any material difference to how the Indian team plays football. My question is, did none of the committee members in the room even think that as the guardians and guiding lights of the world's most popular sport in the world's most populous country, these were not the decisions that every football lover was looking for from them? And that worries me more than any name change or additional ceremony. They have no idea how tone deaf their decisions sounded in the middle of a World Cup, utterly detached from ground realities.

I am proud to be the first Democrat to take this pledge to reject money from AIPAC and affiliated groups, recognize the genocide in Gaza, and oppose aid to Israel and military sales that kill civilians.
Rep. Ro Khanna is the FIRST sitting MOC to sign Track AIPAC's PEACE Pledge, rejecting AIPAC money & committing to human rights, US law & an end to unconditional support for war. "Rejecting AIPAC money isn't enough, every member of Congress must be clear on these issues." —@RoKhanna Who's next? ✍️🇺🇸
