RUNE has released a proof-of-concept version of the PC game that removes both Denuvo and VMProtect, rather than simply bypassing Denuvo while leaving it running in the background.
The release also involved restoring around 25,000 function bodies and the required PE directories.
And the performance comparison is pretty interesting:
-Average FPS: 162 → 186 (+14%)
-1% lows: 93 → 128
-0.1% lows: 74 → 105
-Minimum FPS: 51 → 90 (+76%)
-Maximum FPS: 232 → 233
The test used an i7-13700K and RTX 5080 at 1080p on game version 1.1.1. The executable also went from 496 MB with the protection to 102 MB without it.

It happened to a 15 year old girl.
She bottle-fed him in the house. Raised him till he was one. He thought he was a dog. He was the animal she used to get through her own trauma. Best friend. Soft place.
Everyday thing.
Trenton Garner broke onto that pasture in the dark. Tased him. Shot him. Left.
They called it “dispatched.” They did not stay. They did not point to the body.
So that girl had to walk the field with a flashlight until she found him.
That is the picture going around. A child on her knees in the grass over the friend she raised.
She does not get to unsee that. She does not get that year of him back. Every time she walks that pasture now, that is the night she is walking.
Paid leave is not justice for her.
A locked bodycam is not care for her.
Trenton Garner puts that gun back on like this was nothing, we told that girl her grief does not matter.
‘HeeHaw’ did not attack anybody. If he did, the tape would already be out.

HeeHaw Lawsuit Update: A federal lawsuit just laid out, paragraph by paragraph, exactly what the officer who shot HeeHaw is accused of doing.
Rockmart, Georgia. Hannah Israel filed suit September 11 against Officer Trenton Ryan Garner and the Cedartown Police Department. The complaint says Garner entered her enclosed pastureland after 10:30pm searching for a missing person who was never found there, with no warrant, no consent, and no exigent circumstance. He encountered HeeHaw, described in the filing as young, small, and tranquil, posing no threat to him, any officer, or the K9 on scene. He shot and killed the donkey anyway.
The complaint says officers left HeeHaw's body on the property without telling Israel where to find it. She was only told over the phone that a donkey had been "dispatched." She and a minor child searched the dark pastureland for hours before finding the body themselves.
She's suing under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments for unlawful entry, unreasonable destruction of property, and deprivation of due process, plus punitive damages.
A donkey that never threatened anyone is dead, and a child had to help search for the body in the dark because nobody bothered to say where it was.
