Things go from bad to worse. Trump 🇺🇸 seems to regret that 🇷🇺 didn’t conquer 🇺🇦 immediately, and blame the failure on some incompetent 🇷🇺 general. Who feeds him this strange stuff? Or does he just invent it because he wishes it was so?

Strategically realigning the United States with Russia is a heavy lift for any president, much less an addlepated and venal octogenarian lame duck who’s about to lose one or both chambers of Congress.

Republican congressman threatens sanctions against US agencies over Starshield restrictions in Ukraine
US Representative Brian Fitzpatrick said he would push for an investigation into restrictions on the Starshield satellite system in Ukraine.
He said those responsible could face public congressional hearings and budget cuts for the agencies involved.
Fitzpatrick pledged to discuss military aid for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia with Volodymyr Zelensky.
He also urged the US to provide Kyiv with the weapons it needs, completely phase out Russian oil and tighten sanctions against Moscow.
According to the congressman, these measures would receive broad support in the House of Representatives.

🗓️42 Years Ago, Communist Security Service Officers Murdered Father Jerzy Popiełuszko - the Priest Who Refused to Be Silenced
On 19 October 1984, three officers of the communist Security Service (SB) abducted Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, a chaplain of the Solidarity movement and a prominent voice of resistance to communist oppression.
The priest was returning to Warsaw from Bydgoszcz when his car was stopped near Górsk by officers posing as traffic policemen. His driver, Waldemar Chrostowski, managed to escape. Father Jerzy was brutally beaten, bound and murdered. His body was recovered from the Vistula River near Włocławek on 30 October.
The perpetrators belonged to Department IV of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, responsible for operations against the Catholic Church. Father Jerzy had long been subjected to surveillance, intimidation and harassment because of his sermons defending truth, freedom and human dignity.
In February 1985, three Security Service officers - Grzegorz Piotrowski, Leszek Pękala and Waldemar Chmielewski - and their superior, Adam Pietruszka, were sentenced to prison. None served their full sentence. The possible involvement of higher-ranking communist officials remains unresolved.

😡 Putin proposes that he, Trump, and Xi Jinping decide Ukraine’s fate — without Zelensky
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Russian dictator has proposed a trilateral summit aimed at negotiating an end to the war on terms favorable to Moscow.
The proposal was reportedly made during Putin’s phone call with Trump on October 9. The Kremlin wants to arrange the meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for November 18–19 in Shenzhen, China.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the possibility of such a meeting is being discussed.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also confirmed that a potential summit between Trump, Putin, and Xi Jinping is under discussion, but said he did not know whether a final agreement had been reached.
“The president has made it clear that he would like to see the war between Ukraine and Russia come to an end,” Rubio said.
🚨 JUST IN: Macron delivers emergency address to the nation after two days of riots in France
The French president vowed to punish all looters and declared that there would be no impunity.
“Looking at these images, we all asked ourselves: what is going through their minds? How can French people do this to France? Why burn down Limoges City Hall, the tourist office in Lyon, storm Marseille City Hall, or attack the prefect's residence in Bordeaux? How could they go this far? Nothing justifies this. It is inexplicable and unforgivable. Tonight, we all feel anger and shame. Seeing the streets of our cities so devastated is unbearable.”

NYT: Trump fires new White House press secretary five days after her appointment
Katie Zakaria held just one briefing, which lasted around 15 minutes.
Following her appearance, which drew sharp criticism from journalists, questions immediately arose about her suitability for the role.
The press secretary listed Donald Trump’s achievements, read from a script and answered only three questions. Media outlets also noted her stiffness and lack of eye contact.
Questions were also raised about her legal credentials. Zakaria graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2011 but, according to the WSJ, failed to pass the exam required to obtain a license to practice law in California.
A journalist asked Zelensky: “Don’t you think Trump has made you a scapegoat for his own problems?”
The Ukrainian president smiled knowingly and replied: “That is my answer.”
The room erupted in laughter and applause.
Zelensky vows to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries if allies provide air defense missiles
“You decided that we shouldn’t attack Russian oil refineries. But they will keep attacking us. Then give us missiles so we can shoot down ballistic missiles,” he said.
“We were attacked. Our people were killed. It is perfectly reasonable that we have the right to defend ourselves. All the analysis shows that Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries have no impact on prices,” the Ukrainian president added.
Zelensky emphasized that the lifting of sanctions against Russia came as a surprise to everyone.
