Let’s be honest, without Messi, this generation of Argentina players would not have experienced some of the greatest moments in our history. He gave an entire country the belief that we could win everything. And I’ll say something controversial: I don’t think football will ever produce another player who means this much to an entire nation. People can debate who is the greatest player ever, but what Messi gave Argentina goes beyond that debate, he remains the one and only GOAT. Knowing I may never play alongside him for Argentina again is heartbreaking. We became world champions together. We celebrated together. We suffered together.
