Maybe it’s just me, but this seems pretty simple to understand… You don’t need to rush a full yard to go from 3rd and 6 to 4th and 5. I think you ALL know that, you’re just pretending because you’re upset. Everything comes down to where the ball is placed, and a yard is 3 feet. If the ball was placed 1 foot past the previous spot, Williams only needed to gain another 2 feet for the next down to be 4th and 5. That’s TWO FEET, not a full yard. So it’s entirely possible for the offense to gain enough ground to change the down and distance without the player being credited with a full yard rushing in the official stats. The first-down marker and a player’s individual rushing yards aren’t the same measurement. One is about where the ball ends up in relation to the line to gain. The other is about the actual yardage gained from the previous spot. Could the spot have been wrong? Sure. If the official spot was wrong, question it. But going straight from “my parlay lost by one yard” to “the sportsbooks rigged it” is a hell of a leap. There’s a difference between questioning an official ruling and accusing an entire operation of being fixed. I’m not saying the spot was definitely correct. I’m saying there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for how this could happen, and that’s a hell of a lot more plausible than assuming it was all orchestrated to screw people out of their bets. A bad beat isn’t proof of a conspiracy. Sometimes you just lose by inches. That’s gambling.
