The president has announced the impending closure of DC’s historic municipal golf course accessible to the public at minimal to be replaced by a fancy Trump style course. I have been on the course and park recently to interview golfers joggers and bicyclists who use it regularly. The remaining trees despite last weekend’s tree cutting are historic and beautiful. This matter is still before a federal judge. Not over yet.

National Park Service about to chop down up to 529 trees from municipal golf course Trump trying to take over telling federal judge they don’t contribute to the “historic landscape” - no arborist could possibly have said that. Or anyone who’s visited that park along the Potomac

Yesterday Jack Smith was the target. Today the #wsj reports it’s me and my #Watergate colleagues from 50 years ago. For doing our job investigating facts and applying the law. Hope I behave as admirably as Smith if I’m subpoenaed. Join me and former Judiciary Cmtee member Elizabeth Holtzman with @velshi.com on @11thhourmsnow.bsky.social to discuss all this.

On this day in 1967, Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as the first Black justice to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States. Justice Marshall served on the United States' highest court for 24 years, leaving an enduring legacy in the pursuit of equality and justice. Years earlier, he argued the landmark 1954 case Brown v. Board of Education, in which the Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. His life and work helped pave the way for a more equal America, and his legacy continues to inspire us today.

History lesson: House democratic judiciary chairman Peter Rodino hired 2 GOP lawyers to lead the Nixon watergate probe. The vote to impeach was bipartisan. The Supreme Court voted 8-0 to turn over the White House tapes. GOP senators Barry Goldwater & Hugh Scott told Nixon he would be convicted so he resigned. As Pres Ford said, our long national nightmare was over.

This is an important fact check
The Kennedy Center was financially stable until Trump took over: "In the fiscal year ending in 2024, when the center was led by President Deborah Rutter and a bipartisan board of trustees, it brought in about $40 million more than it spent" theatlantic.com/culture/2026…
