Great vigilant work by @SLMPD officers overnight after locating the suspect vehicle which led to taking the driver into a custody and a brief foot chase with two others. Regional collaboration builds a #SaferSTL for all. AMBER Alert was canceled after two boys were found safe.

Cooler weather makes it tempting to leave windows open, but please close and lock them—and check your doors—before heading to bed tonight. Take a moment to read this @SLMPD alert and share it with your neighbors. If you see suspicious activity, call 911 immediately.
PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: The #SLMPD is investigating four burglaries and at least one attempted burglary reported between Sept. 30 and Oct. 4 in Soulard, Compton Heights, Shaw and Skinker-DeBaliviere. As detectives reviewed the reports and photos obtained during the investigation, they identified a pattern and believe the same suspect could be involved. We are alerting residents as that investigation continues. The incidents occurred between approximately 1 and 4 a.m. In at least two burglaries, the suspect entered an occupied home while residents were asleep and stole items. In another, a vehicle was stolen and later recovered. Lock your doors and windows before going to bed. If you see someone looking into homes or notice other suspicious activity, call 911 immediately. Do not confront the person.

Great work and coordination today by North Patrol officers and the Real-Time Crime Center. Their quick response and teamwork helped bring the suspect’s crime spree to an end. This is another example of your #SLMPD officers and detectives working together to protect #STL.
A suspect believed to be responsible for two carjackings and an attempted carjacking this morning near N. Broadway and I-70 is now in custody. The suspect is believed to have first carjacked a box truck, then attempted another carjacking, which failed, before getting away and carjacking a Honda CRV. Your Real-Time Crime Center later located the suspect in the CRV near N. Grand and Natural Bridge. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, leading to a pursuit. Spike strips were successfully deployed during the pursuit, and the suspect was eventually taken into custody. This is what investing in safety looks like: technology, coordination and officers working together to protect our community and hold those who put others at risk accountable. The investigation remains ongoing.

Last night, your #SLMPD Honor Guard proudly stood alongside fellow first responders and our community before the St. Louis @Cardinals game at Busch Stadium as we marked the 25th anniversary of September 11. It was an honor to be part of a powerful evening of remembrance — honoring the lives lost, the first responders who answered the call and the families forever changed. We will never forget.
