Wonderful to see @GlenMatlock and @clem_burke at @GAMH last night. I think it's been 7 years since last time. Fantastic night and with @gilbyclarke and Steve Fishman.

Ronnie desperately wanted to roll in the dust today… but he stopped himself. It was heartbreaking to watch. He knows that once he goes down, getting back onto his feet is still incredibly difficult. So he tried to enjoy the dust without fully lying down — and when he finally needed help, our team was there to lift him back up. His treatment continues. His walk is still wobbly, especially in the hind legs, but it is already better than when he arrived. And Ronnie is trying so hard. Every step feels like determination. Now we also have to solve the other half of this rescue. Ronnie’s owner walks on crutches and has significant problems with his legs. He has explained that he cannot safely sit astride or operate a standard motorbike-style cart, including using the accelerator with his leg. But there are two things we simply cannot do: We cannot send Ronnie back to work. And we cannot replace him with another healthy donkey and move the suffering onto another animal. So we are looking at a different Second Chance. Instead of a motor cart, we are considering helping his owner establish a small grocery shop — within a similar budget — just as we successfully did for another elderly working-equine owner before. Ronnie gets his retirement. His owner keeps a dignified livelihood. And no new donkey takes Ronnie’s place. That is what real rescue should achieve: not just removing one suffering animal, but breaking the cycle behind the suffering. Please help us make this possible — and most importantly, SHARE Ronnie’s story beyond our usual circle so new people can become part of his Second Chance. 🫏💙 tawf.org.uk/donate

A heartfelt thank you to the few people who stepped forward last night for this donkey’s motor cart. 💙 The truth is, our regular supporters have already given what they could. They are the same small handful of people who carry so much of our work again and again. Now the appeal has stopped. It will not move forward unless this story reaches new people. Please SHARE it beyond our usual circle. We do not need the same few hearts to keep giving more — we need new hearts to find us. That is the only way we can complete his Second Chance. 🫏💙
Two lives are tied to one decision — and we cannot make the wrong one. This is the donkey who collapsed while pulling a heavily loaded cart. Today, he is safe with us. He is standing again. He is trying to walk again. But his hind legs are still weak and unstable, and one thing is absolutely clear: This donkey is NOT fit to return to work. We cannot send him back to a cart. We cannot put weight behind him again. We cannot wait for him to collapse a second time. But there is another side to this story. His owner came to our shelter today. He himself has a significant mobility impairment and walks with the help of a crutch. And this donkey was his means of earning a living. Since the rescue, he has been calling us repeatedly. He has come to the shelter because he needs his livelihood back. We understand that. But the answer cannot be to send this donkey back to work. So now we have only one humane solution: We must retire this donkey permanently and provide his owner with a specially adapted motorised cart so he can continue earning without ever depending on a working donkey again. This is exactly why TAWF created our Second Chance for Working Equines programme. It is not enough to rescue an exhausted animal for one night and then return him to the same cycle. We have to break that cycle. The donkey must stay safe. The owner must still have a way to earn. And another donkey must never be brought in to replace him. We need your help once again. This case has already touched thousands of people. You helped his story reach the world when he collapsed. Now we need you to help us finish his story properly. Please help us give this donkey the retirement he desperately needs — and give his owner a humane alternative livelihood. We cannot send him back to work. We will not send him back to work. Now we need your help to make sure he never has to work again. Please DONATE if you can. And please SHARE this post. One share can put this story in front of the person who can change both of their lives. ❤️ 🌐 Donate online: tawf.org.uk/donate

We had to make a tough call: our new hospital fundraiser is on pause 😢 Our new facility is desperately needed, but with operational debts piling up and response being so low, keeping our current rescues fed and cared for has to come first. We’re aiming to relaunch in December gofund.me/1e24db9c3

The federal energy regulator, led by a Trump appointee, is reviewing an application for an underwater AI data center in Alaska's Cook Inlet. Among the first of its kind in American waters. 350 turbines. 66 server "hives." Sunk into the seafloor. Only about 330 endangered belugas are left in Cook Inlet, down from roughly 1,300 in 1979. The Center for Biological Diversity says the site would sit inside their critical habitat. They can't see through the glacial silt, so they talk, and they click to find food. Mothers and calves use a special call to stay in touch, and scientists say ship noise can drown it out. The Center for Biological Diversity warns that noise from building and running those turbines could disrupt how belugas feed and communicate, and push them out of habitat they need. It's not just the whales. A commercial fishing group says DeepGreen never studied the impact on the 1,300+ active fishing permits in Upper Cook Inlet. DeepGreen's parent company was formed in January 2026. It has no public website, and its Delaware filings don't say who owns it. The Alaska Energy Authority says DeepGreen never even contacted them, despite the company claiming ties to the state's own power grid project, and called facts in DeepGreen's filing "dead wrong." Regulators also found DeepGreen never notified the city of Kenai or identified the tribes and Alaska Native corporations affected. DeepGreen fixed it a week later, only after regulators flagged it. At this point, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is only deciding whether to let DeepGreen study the site. And even past surveys in Cook Inlet needed federal permission to disturb them. As far as the reporting shows, DeepGreen doesn't have it. The belugas can't speak up in this review. You can. Tell the commission to deny this application. Link is in the first reply. 🐋 #DemsUnited 🧵

We spend an enormous amount of time talking about the very worst of us, so let's remember some of the best. This is Dr Karmele Llano Sanchez, a Spanish veterinarian rescuing orangutans from the wildfires in West Kalimantan. No AC or mod cons for wildlife rescuers and veterinarians working in the most challenging conditions in the field, often facing real danger with great courage. Eight orangutans have recently been treated and released, but the suffering witnessed has taken its toll on her team. Most people don't even know her name—she couldn't care less about that—but I do. People like her are true heroes, and we should know who they are.

SHE IS SAFE WITH US FOR NOW. ❤️🐴 This is the same elderly donkey who arrived with those two tiny children. A tractor had run over her leg, and she was in absolute agony. We feared the worst — but thankfully, her X-rays showed NO fracture. ❤️ She was also dehydrated, weak and clearly had not been living in good condition. Since that day, she has been receiving pain relief, fluids, good food, rest and proper veterinary care. And we are going to keep her with us for as long as we possibly can. Even when she improves, we will keep telling her owner, “She still needs treatment.” Another week… another few days… whatever time we can safely buy for her means more rest, more food and more kindness. Right now, she is still frightened of us. When she moved away from me today, I didn't chase her. I gave her space. She needs to learn that nobody here is going to hurt her. ❤️ And I already know what many of you will say: “PLEASE DON'T SEND HER BACK.” Believe me, I understand. But sometimes 10 or 12 working donkeys can arrive for treatment in a single day. If we permanently keep every privately owned animal that comes through our doors, very quickly there will be no space — and no money to care for them all. Food. Treatment. Medicines. Staff. Shelter. Everything costs money. TAWF has a small, incredibly loyal family of supporters who give again and again. We cannot keep asking the same people to carry an ever-growing burden alone. But YOU can help us change that. Please SHARE her story as far and wide as you possibly can. Help us grow this little TAWF family. Because the more helping hands we have, the more animals like her we can protect — and perhaps one day, when you tell us, “Don't send her back,” we'll be able to say: “WE WON'T.” ❤️🐴 ❤️ Donate: tawf.org.uk/donate

In the last 24 hours, only two kind-hearted people donated. To both of you, thank you from my heart. ❤️ But look at Ian. Look at the condition these babies reach us in. 💔 We cannot keep saving lives without helping hands finding us. And that is why SHARING matters. Our posts are reaching the same small circle. If you cannot donate, please SHARE & REPOST. Your share could reach the person who can help Ian—or save the next life waiting for us. A share costs nothing, but for them, it could mean everything. ❤️🐾 tawf.org.uk/donate
Ian is only a baby, and I honestly don’t know how a tiny body ends up like this. 💔 His leg has an almost 8-inch-long devastating wound, with tissue stripped away almost to the bone. The leg itself is so badly broken that it cannot be saved. And around his little neck is another deep wound consistent with severe rope injury. How? Why? I don’t know. And looking at Ian brings me back to Teddy. 💔 Another tiny baby who travelled so far to reach us only days ago. Teddy had a prolapse, an old broken leg that had already dried and healed backwards, a deep tunnel-like wound filled with maggots, infection and wounds across his little body. Almost every problem he arrived with was potentially life-threatening. We fought for him. But Teddy didn’t make it. 💔 I don’t have the heart to make another post announcing his death, so I’m saying goodbye to him here. And then there is Milan. ❤️ Almost the same age, looking so much like them—yet growing up beside his mother, safe, loved and enjoying the life every baby deserves. Now we fight for Ian. His leg needs to be amputated, but his young age, weakness and severe infection make the surgery and anaesthesia a serious challenge. We don’t know what his destiny will be. Please pray for him. 🙏 And if you can, help sponsor Ian’s blood tests, treatment, surgery, medicines and recovery. We couldn’t save Teddy. Please help us give Ian every possible chance. ❤️🐴 tawf.org.uk/donate

“TAKE HER. WE DON’T WANT HER BACK.” Ivory came too late. Badal died just metres from our shelter. Last night, another broken mare was reported — and again, the owner said the same words. This is what happens when an animal has been worked until almost nothing is left. If there is still enough life to earn from them, they are taken back, worked again or sold on. When there is nothing left, they are handed to us. WE HAVE TO REACH THEM BEFORE THIS POINT. Please, PLEASE SHARE our Donkey Cart Exchange Project. Share it beyond our circle. Share it until it reaches the people who can help us replace the cart, retire the animal and stop the next body from being broken. We cannot keep arriving only at the end. 💔
My heart breaks watching Lucky Star take one frightened step forward — and then immediately step back. 💔 Here, the ground has been specially levelled for him. There are gentle hands, hugs and people beside him. Yet he is still terrified to move. His body is covered in old cuts, scars and marks from a lifetime of work. Perhaps every step has taught him to expect pain — another blow, another wound, another piece of skin torn away. Maybe that is why, even now, he is afraid to move. And I cannot stop thinking: if this blind old horse is this frightened to take one step somewhere completely safe, how was he forced to work from morning until late at night? Since Wednesday, every tiny step has been an achievement. One by one, our team gently walks him around his new home, helping him learn that nothing here will hurt him. Our other blind equines now move freely and confidently around the sanctuary. One day, I want to see Lucky Star doing the same — walking without fear. ❤️ Please SHARE his journey and help us give animals like Lucky Star the life they should always have had. Good morning from Sunshine (Sun). ☀️🐾 Tiny, blind, mischievous and absolutely full of life — Sunny runs, plays and finds the way around with amazing confidence. Blindness has never stopped this beautiful little soul from enjoying life. But Sunny needs a home. Among hundreds of cats, with new cats of different temperaments constantly arriving, Sunny can never be completely safe. We have appealed before, but no one has chosen Sunny yet. Please SHARE, SHARE, SHARE. The further this story travels, the greater the chance that somewhere, the right person will see Sunny and offer the safe, loving home this little one deserves. 🤍 tawf.org.uk/donate

I don’t think I have ever felt this desperate before 💔 Please, PLEASE SHARE this horse. I know so many of you have only just helped us buy Khari’s motor cart. I cannot ask you to give again. But I am begging you to help us carry this story onto new timelines — because somewhere, someone may be able to help us bring him home. He is completely blind. And while I am writing this, he is still working. Look at his body. The rub marks. The scars. The old wounds and the new ones. His owner himself says that because he cannot see, he gets injured again and again. He came to us only for treatment. We desperately wanted to keep him, but his owner supports a large family through his labour and cannot surrender him without an alternative livelihood. So every day it takes us to arrange a motor cart is another day this blind horse remains at work. Through TAWF’s Second Chance for Working Donkeys, we want to exchange his animal-drawn cart for a motor cart, bring him permanently to our sanctuary, and give him what he may never have known — safety, rest, kindness and dignity for the rest of his life. Please share him far and wide. Help us reach the person who can make his freedom possible. ❤️ 🌐 tawf.org.uk/donate Please use “Motor Cart” as the donation reference.

IN MEMORY OF IVORY & BADL 💔 MAY I ASK YOU FOR JUST TWO THINGS? ONE SHARE + £5. I don’t want to meet the next donkey only after their body is broken. I want us to reach them BEFORE that happens — replace the cart, retire the donkey, and stop another taking their place. Six years ago, I came to Pakistan carrying this dream. It has taken six years just to make a start. I don’t want another six years. I need your hand now. ❤️🫏 One SHARE brings another helping hand. £5 brings the next donkey closer to freedom.
Today, I have news I have been dreading to share. Ivory is gone. 💔 I know how many of you have been coming back every day, sometimes several times a day, asking, “How is Ivory?” We fought for her. She fought too. But her exhausted body could not fight anymore. And today, my heart is breaking for another reason too. This is Badl. And we lost him too. Badl had been discarded outside like a piece of broken furniture — still alive, but no longer wanted. He lay there for days, skeletal and helpless. Dirt filled his mouth and eyes. His body carried old and new pressure sores from lying and rubbing against the hard ground. Even the skin on his face was rubbed raw. Someone was watching him deteriorate. But the call to us came only when his life had minutes left. We wasted not a second. Our team rushed to him, lifted his dying body and raced towards the shelter. We almost made it. Just a few metres from our shelter — around the corner from safety — Badl took his last breath. That few metres is tearing my heart apart. When we contacted his owner, the response was simple: “Take him. We don’t want him back.” After a lifetime of being useful to humans, this was his ending. And this is where Ivory and Badl keep meeting in my mind tonight. We couldn't save Ivory either. But we had her for those precious final days. She had treatment. Pain relief. Food. A clean, safe place to rest. Hands that touched her gently. People beside her who cared whether she lived or died. She left this world knowing human kindness. Badl didn't even get that. If only that call had come a few days earlier. Even if we couldn't have saved him, we could have filled his stomach. Eased his pain. Cleaned the dirt from his eyes and mouth. Let him feel a gentle hand instead of the hard ground beneath his bones. We could have given him dignity before death. Please — REPORT EARLY. And if an animal has worked for you until his body can give no more, don't throw him outside to die. Call us. Give us the chance to help before his final breaths. Days like this break us. They steal our sleep. They leave us wondering how much more our hearts can carry. But then we remember: There is another Ivory somewhere. There is another Badl. And they still need us to keep going. Please stand with us. And above all, SHARE — because the next person who sees this may make that call in time. 💔🐴 tawf.org.uk/donate 🇵🇰 Pakistan Donations Allied Bank Limited TAHIRA ANIMAL WELFARE FOUNDATION IBAN: PK72ABPA0010087294010017

PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE. 💔 Our sanctuary is now overcrowded, but how do we leave donkeys like Benji on the streets? He arrived late at night from a neighbouring city, in extreme pain, his hoof gone after reportedly struggling on the streets for months. We simply could not say no. We need more helping hands — for treatment, more Donkey Cart Exchanges, and more land so every rescued donkey can have the retirement we promise them. Our nursery is filling with little ones who also deserve a better future. Please SHARE our work. Please FOLLOW us. yesterday, KARI’S OWNER CAME TO TAKE HIM BACK. 💔 Even his own owner couldn’t get near him. When I asked if he used to beat Kari, his answer broke me: “Only as much as necessary.” We did NOT send Kari back. His owner agreed to leave him with us permanently if we can provide a motorised cart — and we’re already more than halfway there. ❤️ Please SHARE and help us finish this. If you can help, they work so damn hard to help animals.
Sorry to have been so quiet today but did not have the mental strength to post properly. Spent the day thinking of the situation of the dogs and how I've failed them 💔😪. Our hospital fundraiser is doing very badly and it's truly broken me. Knowing that as we speak dogs are being shot or poisoned on the streets. I think what broke me was the fact that how unfair the rescue world is, with some organisations having have no issues raising funds, millions are thrown their way, whilst we struggle, having to constantly beg, day in and day out. Anyways I have faith and one day we will build, just hurts to know that by then thousands will have lost their lives. To them I say please forgive me, for I really tried. Truly if it meant me giving my life to save you, I would 💔😪. So leaving you tonight with myself at the best place in the world, our sanctuary 💖
