I was investigating a potential crime reported by a citizen. A man, who was believed to have possibly committed the misdemeanor, was asked for his ID. He informed me Tennessee was not a Stop & identify state therefore he wasn't giving me his ID. I then explained my reason for stopping him & as part of my investigation I needed his name & date of birth. He again refused to provide it on his reasoning he said before. One last chance was given to identify verbally, but he again refused. I then got to listen to him for the next 30 minutes tell me I violated his rights as I took him to the county jail for failing to identify. People really need to either quit getting their legal info off Tik Tok or they need to read entire laws before they choose the jerk route over cooperation. I swear some people have weird dreams of practicing law in parking lots or something👮‍♂️😏
