Who are these so called “patriots” that are defending Britain? 🇬🇧
… or are they the root cause to the decline of our nation? 🏴
~ a thread 🧵
El-Sayed: At the end of the day, I actually don't think about Haley Stevens. Because you know what? I'm just less interested in the politics of it all than I am in the policy of it all…
If you are somebody who believes that we should stand up to hate, and you have watched this last campaign, I think we probably would not want to support Mike Rogers and Donald Trump and JD Vance. If you're somebody who believes that we need more health care, not less than you probably don't want to vote for the guy who voted to raise prescription drug prices or keep them high 19 times and takes money from big pharma and big insurance. If you're somebody who believes in public education, you probably do not want to support the guy who architected the initial legislation in 1999 that ended up stripping local control from Detroit public schools and the local community. If you're somebody who believes that you should have a right to a union, you probably don't want to support the guy who busts unions. So I'm just saying that the principles that we believe in as Democrats are really quite clear. I stand for all of them.

What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention.
So we're going on tour. All proceeds will benefit organizations supporting the Palestinian people and movement.

🇵🇸 Macklemore might have lost his spot on Ed Sheeran’s tour but he's gained a place on the walls of Gaza.
Artists in Gaza City painted a massive mural of the rapper wrapped in a Palestinian flag on a slab of concrete surrounded by rubble, following his removal from the tour over his pro-Palestinian comments.
That's quite a tribute.

They’re not allowing refunds- however banks are approving chargebacks due to " not getting what purchased" as in macklemore is not performing anymore. Get your money back. Donate it to Gaza instead.

🇬🇧🇺🇦 Ed Sheeran says he doesn’t “take sides.”
Well, in 2022 he certainly did 😳
At his Warsaw concert, he brought Ukrainian band Antytila on stage to perform “2Step” in front of 80,000 people in a show of support for Ukraine.
He also collaborated with them on a remix of the track, with royalties going to Ukrainian humanitarian efforts.
And earlier that year, he headlined the televised Concert for Ukraine in Birmingham, which raised more than £13 million for humanitarian aid.
So the issue may not be politics on stage. It may be which politics.

🇺🇸 The Macklemore/Ed Sheeran story is starting to look less like a tour dispute and more like a test of how much the entertainment industry's politics on Palestine have shifted.
First, what happened. Macklemore used 2 opening sets at MetLife Stadium to say “Free Palestine,” speak about Gaza and the West Bank, and perform “Hind’s Hall” with images from Gaza behind him.
Afterward, several venues told promoter Messina Touring Group they would not host the remaining shows with Macklemore on the bill.
Robert Kraft, whose company owns Gillette Stadium, confirmed he objected to Macklemore performing there, while Macklemore says Sheeran told him Kraft had also contacted other stadium owners.
Sheeran finally responded:
“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine.”
He says he spent the week trying to “build bridges,” but venues were threatening to cancel entire shows if Macklemore remained and he was not prepared to cancel on hundreds of thousands of fans and crew.
Then things got considerably messier.
Every remaining support act walked.
Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga all quit the tour in solidarity with Macklemore and Palestinians.
Kehlani, Garbage, Ms. Rachel and others publicly backed him, while Javier Bardem has now called for a boycott of Sheeran’s tour.
Sheeran also lost tens of thousands of Instagram followers during the backlash, another sign that the pressure was not running only in one direction.
So what does Sheeran do now?
He can rebuild the support bill and continue as planned, betting that the controversy burns itself out.
He can pressure the promoter and stadium owners to reconsider Macklemore, potentially putting some of those stadium dates back at risk.
Or he can take a clearer public position himself, something he has so far deliberately avoided by arguing that his concerts should remain politically neutral.
His statement strongly suggests he intends to keep touring and stick with the third-party explanation: the venues and promoter made the decision, not him.
But there is a much bigger story here.
The entertainment industry's relationship with Palestine has changed dramatically since the first months after October 7.
At the 2024 Oscars, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Mark Ruffalo, Ava DuVernay and Ramy Youssef were among the stars wearing Artists4Ceasefire pins. The same campaign had already appeared at the Grammys and SAG Awards.
By 2025, it had moved far beyond pins.
Thousands of film workers signed a pledge refusing to work with Israeli film institutions they considered complicit in abuses against Palestinians.
The names included Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Olivia Colman, Mark Ruffalo, Tilda Swinton, Ava DuVernay, Ayo Edebiri, Riz Ahmed and Javier Bardem.
Hannah Einbinder then said “Free Palestine” from the Emmy stage. Bardem arrived wearing a keffiyeh and openly discussed boycotting institutions.
And “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” about the 5-year-old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza, received a 23-minute standing ovation at Venice. Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara and Alfonso Cuarón were among its executive producers.
Now, in 2026, removing one pro-Palestinian artist from a stadium tour has resulted in every other support act walking out.
That doesn't mean Hollywood and the music industry have suddenly become uniformly pro-Palestinian.
Major studios, industry figures and pro-Israel groups continue to push strongly in the opposite direction, and artists can still face professional consequences for speaking out.
But the career-risk equation does appear to have changed.
A few years ago, speaking publicly for Palestine could make an artist the problem.
Now, trying to silence one can become the problem too.
And Ed Sheeran may have just found himself standing directly where those two pressures meet.

🇵🇰 IF THE WORLD KEEPS TURNING A BLIND EYE, IMRAN KHAN MAY NO LONGER BE WITH US!
They couldn't break Imran Khan, so now his family fears Pakistani authorities are planning something much worse
His sister Aleema Khan has spent years fighting for a brother she is rarely allowed to see, and every time I speak to her, she is even more defiant
In this conversation, Aleema describes what those months have looked like from the outside of a prison wall.
Imran has been held in almost total isolation for nearly ten months, with only five visits from family or lawyers in that entire time.
During that time he developed an eye infection.
For two weeks he told prison authorities he could not see from one eye, and no medical help came. By the time a doctor examined him, the damage was irreversible.
What frightens the family most is what Aleema believes is happening around him.
Medical information about hypertension has been deliberately leaked, while images of an increasingly old and frail Imran have begun circulating.
She believes a public image is being built, piece by piece, of a man whose health is naturally collapsing.
That is why the family now takes one of Imran's own warnings seriously: that he could die in custody the way Mohamed Morsi died in Egypt.
Aleema's argument is that Pakistan's establishment fears the millions of Pakistanis who still believe in what her brother represents far more than it fears the man himself.
And if they can neither release him nor break him, his family is left asking the darkest question of all.
What are they prepared to do with him?
