We saw the Sunshine Sea, the 1971 surf movie last night and it was amazing. Made by Greg MacGillivray (who was there last night) of @MacFreeFilms it was a travel style surf move shot in 35mm and intended for wide audiences. It was Art, funny, with great waves and great storytelling.
The slow motion surf sequences of David Nuuhiwa and Nat Young were incredible and should be seen and analyzed by all young surfers and coaches today.
MacGillivray should consider re-releasing it to theatres. It tells a wonderful and timeless story about surfing.
