Eight years ago, CODEPINK’s Medea Benjamin confronted Trump’s Iran envoy Brian Hook over a policy of sanctions, threats and escalation toward Iran. Today, after months of war with Iran, the U.S. is once again threatening further escalation. And this week, U.S. troops completed their withdrawal from Iraq after more than two decades of war and occupation. How many wars will it take before Washington learns that bombs, sanctions and regime-change policies do not bring peace? The year was 2018. The warning could have been delivered today. NO MORE WAR. PEACE WITH IRAN.

Sen. Steve Daines voted NO on a measure that would have required the State Department to report to Congress on human rights abuses in the West Bank including the killings of nine Americans since 2022. The measure failed 47–51. When we asked Daines why he opposed even a report, he called the vote “political” and pivoted to the Palestinian Authority. Daines has taken $717,244 in pro-Israel money. Nine Americans are dead. Their families are still waiting for accountability. And Steve Daines voted to keep them waiting. Whose interests is he protecting?

TODAY: The Senate is voting on Senator Chris Van Hollen’s resolution requiring the State Department to report on the killing of nine Americans in the West Bank, violence by settlers and Israeli forces, and the detention and treatment of Palestinian children. If the administration fails to report within 30 days, certain U.S. security assistance to Israel would be cut off. We’re outside Van Hollen’s office thanking him for leading this effort. It’s time for the Senate to act.
