Today these boys were engineers! They came up with this design to to quickly clean up their cubes. You can even see one of them is sporting the 2.0 version that he improved to make more stable. None of this was part of an assignment and was all for fun at recess! @es_parkside

How about an impromptu class picture on the jungle gym today? These kids love “hanging out” with each other! 😁 @es_parkside

A former student made my day by visiting my room this morning to drop off this delicious golden snitch. She knows how I love Harry Potter and Ferrero Rocher 🥰#happyteacherappreciation #relationshipsmatter

In case you haven’t heard, I’ve made a quick jump up to 5th grade to co-teach with @HCES_MsBlanton5. Check out how awesome our awesome terrariums are! 🦗

To end the week after learning about the #p2 trait of creativity, we spent our morning meeting time creating things out of school supplies & recycled materials. These hawks let their creative minds soar! #HawksDoItDifferent @HortonsCreekES

There was lots of excitement today as we headed out on our FIRST field trip! These hawks left the nest to see a @LightwireTheatr performance with @NCStateLIVE! Ask your 2nd grade student about our fantastic day! @HortonsCreekES

Our class had a morning circle this week focused on the book, “The Fiesta Dress: a Quienceañera Tale” We discussed the P2 trait teamwork as many ✋🏽s were needed to pull a celebration off! This is also a great 📕 to showcase 🇲🇽 culture for #HispanicHeritageMonth @HortonsCreekES

This week during indep. work time I turned to see a student behind me just standing and staring at me. I asked him to go sit down, and his response was: “I just want to be near you.” This is why I keep teaching in spite of it all 💕 #relationshipsmatter @HortonsCreekES

We made it through our first day! These students were so happy to see each other and be back in the building together! In their own words: “Second grade is the best!” #togetherisbetter @HortonsCreekES

My library will always be my favorite part of my classroom 🥰 I’ve worked hard to build up and reorganize the cultural section and I’ve finally collected enough books to start splitting them into specific groups/cultures! The last pic is my summer haul of books 😁 @HortonsCreekES

Can you believe the Zinnia and Sunflower plants my students helped plant back in MARCH are still producing such gorgeous flowers!? They’ve been such a beautiful reminder of my previous students all summer 💕🌻 I can’t wait to see old faces and meet new ones soon! @HortonsCreekES

I don’t know how we dug deep to do a 2nd grade market on the second to last day of school, but this was some of the most authentic learning I’ve seen all year! Scarcity, abundance, making a profit, exchanging equal values of money, making change, and more! @HortonsCreekES

At the beginning of March we planted sunflower seeds as a class and watched them rapidly grow! By spring break I had to load up my wagon to take them home and give them more space to grow. 2.5 months later, look at these beauties now! Good things take time! @HortonsCreekES – at Cary, NC
