Would you like your kids to take a virtual field trip to learn about the brain? The UVA psychology department is coming into classrooms to teach students about how the brain works, how to keep brains healthy, and other topics in the field of psychology for Brain Awareness Week!
This morning, we took time to talk about #BellLetsTalk day & #DIFD. I used this amazing book by @TomPercivalsays to talk about worries/anxiety. It鈥檚 okay not to be okay, it鈥檚 not okay to keep it bottled up. Each student is taking home a copy of the book with a reminder from me 馃挏
Kids are never too young to have the conversation. You never know when it will make a difference. #BellLetsTalk #DIFD
This was part of a sticky note left on our whiteboard question my first year of teaching. It鈥檚 remained on my camera roll since. #BellLetsTalk聽 #DIFD
Today is #BellLetsTalk Day, a cause near to my heart. Bell is raising awareness and funds for mental health initiatives. Every tweet using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk donates 5垄 to the cause! #DIFD #MentalHealthIsHealth

Today, as we reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy, we want to continue empowering the next generation to make his dream a reality. Books are a great place to begin the conversation w/ your kids. Check out bit.ly/2LI5wJy for a list to get started @ReadBrightly

Teaching today was TOUGH. But, the knowledge, sophistication, grace, and compassion of my scholars made it that much easier to get through the day. The youth are our future, and I am excited for that future.
Doing the right thing matters. So proud of my 3rd graders for having a powerful, meaningful, respectful conversation this morning.
A student鈥檚 grandma made this amazing apron for me. I already got to put it to use working on our traditional Christmas dinner prep! 鉂わ笍馃巹
Morning Work this week has aligned nicely with the holiday spirit (and our 3rd Grade ELA curriculum 馃槈)! Students are practicing reading articles about holiday celebrations in other countries, answering questions about those articles, and enjoying some other fun activity pages!

Spent part of my weekend working on a Virtual Library resource for my students. A labor of love that already appears to be well worth the time 馃挄馃摎
