Un episodio de Dr. House terminó ayudando a resolver un misterioso caso médico en la vida real. 🩺😱
En Alemania, un paciente de 55 años sufría graves problemas de salud, entre ellos insuficiencia cardiaca, pérdida de audición y visión, sin que los médicos lograran encontrar inicialmente una explicación.
El médico Jürgen Schäfer recordó entonces un episodio de House M.D. en el que se diagnosticaba una intoxicación por cobalto relacionada con una prótesis de cadera. La similitud llevó al equipo a investigar esa posibilidad.
Los análisis revelaron niveles extremadamente elevados de cobalto en el organismo del paciente, relacionados con el desgaste de componentes metálicos de su prótesis. Tras reemplazarla, su condición mejoró.
El caso fue tan extraordinario que terminó publicado en la prestigiosa revista médica The Lancet bajo un título que reconocía directamente la insólita inspiración: “Intoxicación por cobalto diagnosticada con la ayuda del Dr. House”.

Big Bertha, the cow that drank whiskey, lived until she was 48, broke two Guinness world records and raised £60,000 for cancer research.
Big Bertha was born in County Kerry, Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day 1945 and lived until 1993, which is exceptionally old for a cow.

Morgan Aero 8 used BMW's 4.4L M62 V8 at launch in 2001, an engine from the same family used in the 740i and 540i.
Morgan chose it because it was powerful, reliable, and compact enough to fit into a car that still used an ash wood frame and hand-beaten aluminium body panels.
The car weighed just 1,000 kg.
With 286 PS from the V8, it was faster than a Porsche 911 and a Mercedes SL500 in contemporary road tests.
The Aero 8 was controversial from the front, the headlights were positioned to give aerodynamic benefit, but critics called the result cross-eyed.
Morgan never fully admitted it looked strange.
Twenty-five years later, Morgan still fits BMW engines to every car they make, still using the B58 in the Plus Six.
